Could we ever live in a world where we have to speak one language and have to be under the influence of the country across the globe? Many have tried but all have failed

    Napoleon
    Romans
    Hitler
    Tojo

The list goes on and on. But could it ever happen and would it be for the better of humanity?

Isn't this the same as the one world, one country thread?

No, not really. The one world, one country thread is dealing more with how humanity should present itself and interact with other sentient species.

    To the OP:
    Is it better for humanity?
Yes, but with some problems like the loss of variety, one-size-fits-all, etc. Mostly ethical problems.

    Is it possible?
    Unlikely.
Even the United States, the 'melting pot' of the world has failed to actually make a distinctive, all-encompassing culture.
Other civilizations have tried to spread their influence and absorb others to varying affect. China in particular is known for this, historically, which is why there are so many central themes and cultural similarities in the Far East amoung the Chinese, Japanese, and the Koreans.
Even killing off other cultural groups is no guarentee. Moving a person away from a cultural area [like moving a coastal group to a desert] will inevitably cause a cultural shift. Which means that conquest probably would never work, as circumstances and strains on the culture would change.
For the time being, there is no proof that it is possible, and it looks like it is not, but who knows? Maybe in the far-flung future it will happen.
For myownself, I doubt it will happen in my lifetime.

    Yes and no.

No because well to have one country in one world doesnt ecactly mean it became that way through global domination

Yes because 85% chance that the only way there would be one nation is through domination.

Again, we come back to Globalization. You people really don't understand just how linked the world economy is. If a world spanning state (or a lack of states in the world) were to ever come about, it would be through the strengthening of these links and the incorporation of those who are not fully "on the train".

We just need to wait a few more years to perfect our viruses that target specific races. If released effectively that can basically allow you to snuff out any continent/culture/race you want. You're half way there.

Any world empire would have to be run by a machine/genetically or mechanically enhanced person so limit the dun goofs.

You DO KNOW that such a thing is impossible as you put it and both impractical and incredibly dangerous to the entire human race, right?
The only difference between humans is the active/inactivity of certain genes. THERE IS NO ETHNIC GENE. All people are only different combinations of acitive/inactive genes.
To make such a weapon, say, attacking anyone with a gene for blond hair would be devestating for EVERYONE since everyone has it, but most have it in the recessive form. It would end up killing EVERYONE.

I'm no expert in the feild, but at least I know this much.

Also, that post was incredibly racist.
So much for Democracy. That isn't Communism either. So methinks that you will find no favor with anyone here on this forums.

World Domination had better be possible, or I shall never be able to achieve my goal in life. Anyway, one group did achieve world domination; humanity! Okay, i'm answering the thread title and not the OP, but oh well. The total dominance of one nation is not impossible, but the wider its influence spreads, the less relevence/appeal one nation can have. That's partly why the nations mentioned above managed what they did, whether it was revolution, racism or the American dream. Those who didn't care about France/Germany/the US/Britain served the people/the European race/greed or liberty/having a foreign monarch exploit your country (well maybe not the last one).

A common language a World Dominion makes not. Look at China. In parts of Chinese history, the people of the surrounding countries like Japan, Korea, and Vietnam all spoke Chinese alongside their own language, especially in important matters like official documents, envoys, etc. But that did not make for a united Far East, did it?

I still don't think everyone will only be speaking English, But English will be a global language for sure. Does anyone have a top 20 or so languages expected by 2050 or 2100.

How our economist see the future:
English and French are the dominant languages in the world.
Canada becomes the capital of the world.
