Well congratulations I guess and welcome to the club. Lets just hope the Government never brings it back and were not sent to go kill people or possibly be killed our selves.

Do you get to choose which branch you go to? I would only join the Armed Forces if I could join the Navy.

I'm not sure but I don't think you get to choose if you get drafted, but I really don't know how the Government does it because the US hasn't drafted people since Vietnam.

I have to do 3 things for my grants,

1: sign up for selective service.
2: present birth records stating that i am mexican, and tax records showing that i am of the lower class
    3: Write a 12 page autobiography

Then i can collect my grant so i can afford to go to UCLA!!

I don't see the draft coming back any time soon. Gonna be mostly proxy wars for a while yet.

Of course, if it does return, you're fucked.

The only way to pick is if you volunteer or go to college and do rotc, and defer your service time until after you graduate. The latter of which was arround for part of vietnam, but was prevelent towards the end which indicates to me it's most likely the policy that's carried over.

For the record, just because someone is registered for the draft doesn't mean they would automatically be drafted if we re-instituted the draft. In Vietnam they ran the draft like a lottery system. People had a draft lottery number and the armed forces would periodically post lottery numbers and then if you're number got called you had to report to a draft station and they would figure out if they could take you and where they would put you.
