I've just been informed by a friend, that I may be able to run one of the Total War games. I immediately disagreed with just about everything he's said, but I want your oppinion on this. He said I could run Rome Total War (Provided I have a copy) on my shitty computer, here's what I run: a Intel Pentium 4 processor, 3.00 Ghz clock rate and 0.99 GB of RAM. So, if I manage to find a non-digital copy in a store somewhere around Toronto, (I doubt it) should I get it?

What's your video card, you actually meet the conditions to run RTW, although a bit mor RAM would do good.

I am real stupid when it comes down to what's inside this big box, so I would like to raise the question, where can I find my 'videocard'? (I hope you use Windows)

Well I kinda misspelled there, it's the Graphics card, not video card. Anyway (I use XP) go to Start/Run/(type in)dxdiag.exe

If that works out, you could see all you have in your computer. In my screen the Graphics card is on the "show" tab.

(I did roughly translate everything from portuguese to english so some things may not be the exact same word as I put them in here)

    I can't find it.

I did what you said and "DirectX Diagnostic Tool" came up, what tab should it be in?

My screen is all in portuguese, but it should be the 3rd tab from left to right.

I'm guessing it's Direct3D... I don't know, all of this is too confusing.

No, it's written at the top left square of the page, no need for testing anything.

If you could only tell me the number MBs that appear in there it would be good, if it is above 64MB you can run RTW safely.

It reads Approximate Total Memory: 224.0 MB.

I downloaded the demo and it seems to run O.K, a little bit slow, but I can play.

Says my video card is incompatible with this game, everything else is A-O.K. Well, I haven't upgraded it at all since I bought it, so I suppose I could in the near future...

Although this is very strange, I can play the demo perfectly, no problems what-so-ever, and it's telling me I can't play the full game?

Edit: I checked out the other TW games and I can definately run Medieval 2, sweet.

2nd Edit: I've been checking a few other RTS' I'd like and the problem seems to be my videocard Hardware Transform and Lighting is the only thing below minimum requirements, if that's not a significant problem, I could run Red Orchestra, Civ IV, RTW and M2TW. So, if someone could assure me that with this I can run these games at least on a low graphic setting, I would be a happy PC gamer, at last.
