This is an extension on JFK's STALIN thread.
If Stalin didn't seize power after Lenin's death, or he if he never existed in the first place, or some other random thing:
    How would Russia have fared?
EDIT: Also sorry this isn't in Historical Events I had a brain fart.

Well, seeing as how Russia is still a mess with Putin, the FSB are a bunch of crooks, and the democracy that Russia has today is bunk, Stalin wasn't the only problem in Russia.

I believe either Buhkarin or Trotsky would take power, and we won't have the word today, "Stalinist"

Buhkarin would've been cool. Trotsky though, I wonder what he would've done.

I think Bukharin would have gotten power because he was Lenin's actual successor.

I'm pretty sure Trotsky would get into power, even though I'd much prefer to see Bukharin, maybe because I would trust him more than that liability, Trotsky. I definitely do agree with the communist party of Great Britain. They referred to Trotsky as a petty-Bourgeois intellectual, or a opportunist striving for power over the working class. I can tell you he was no representative of the working class, but the Bourgeoisie. Bukharin I can trust, although I didn't agree with most of his theories such as bringing in some components of capitalism for example the new economic policy which Lenin proposed. Bukharin thought it would be a good idea to keep that intact when in contrast Stalin thought to abolish it, and basically go for a self-sufficient economy which he did.

I still generally believe Stalin was the right man to take power at the time. I mean I hate to say it, but he did do some bad things, but overall he did more good than bad. I do know that you did say not to get the good or bad sides of Stalin involved in this debate, but it was unavoidable at this point in the discussion.

Instead we would have a Trotsky lover, or a Trotskyist LP'er.
