Well I don't think that religion should be taught in schools , simple as that.

Sorry about that, I meant. I don't think religion should be taught in schools. Sorry for the double negative.

VICTORY!!! The British government actually did something that is considered good for once. I wonder what the creationists are going to think about this.

'British government won't fund schools that teach creationism' sounds unneccessarily alarmist to me; the majority of faith schools aren't fundamentalist enough to have any objection. I mean funding will be withdrawn for any free school that teaches what it claims are "evidence-based views or theories" that run "contrary to established scientific and/or historical evidence and explanations" is fairly reasonable. They can still hold their various views. Plus we still have a state religion, so Anglicans at least can't really complain.

How can he/she not believe in religion? Don't you mean "My R.E teacher isn't religious"?

If you don't follow any religious values and your not religious, or worse yet anti-religious, you're not really giving it a fair fight. Of course, no wonder Atheism is so huge in the UK, the only taste of religion is from Atheists.

To be honest it's far worse than that. I didn't have any athiest RE teachers, just a crazy old black christian woman and a Muslim woman. For some reason, the emphasis was on stupid social issues that religious people might have. So it was all 'what do Christians think about arbortion' or some such stupidity as opposed to teaching about the people who might hold these views. Plus obviously each religion has plenty of followers with differing views. And for some reason all the muslim kids got to do about Islam and all the white kids about Christianity.

I guess Religious Education probably doesn't get the best funding, nor do the best people go into it.
