So he gave us free will, then he gave us a book which demands that we mindlessly obey and worship him, which means giving up free will, or suffer fore all eternity.

God doesn't send people to hell. People send them self's to hell with their actions.

Also hell is not (at least in my belief) firing pit were people burn alive for eternity. But in the bible the most common reference to hell is a dark place. meaning hell could be a "eternal sleep" (too hard to explain in English, what I mean sorry)

no you are wrong if god would interfere with wrong there would be no free will. Everybody would love everyone. but not truly only faking so god doesn't correct it. Making us robots. No love in that.
Comparing charity to god hmm people in charity are able to do good or evil they chose good.

No in the new testament he does not tell us mindlessly worship him or obey. And no it doesn't mean giving up free will. When did you see a Christian who doesn't do sin huh! Christians do choices everyday. Only difference is that when they do something wrong and they regret it, they are forgiven.

No, people do what they think is the right thing, and God sends them to hell when they die and didn't do exactly as He told them to (which isn't free will whatsoever). And from most descriptions I know, Hell is a place for eternal torture for people who don't do precisely what God told them to do, like kill people, and not kill gay people.

Why would it be fake? Instead of a perfect world where God intervenes, we have a relatively shitty world where God intervenes (according to the Bible and a lot of religious people).

So if somebody kills somebody we should let them go free just because, we the people think: I guess the murderer thought it was the right thing" if some one is morally wrong and he still thinks to him self:" this is the right thing", well that isn't a excuse. You go to heaven if you believe in god and Jesus etc... that what you said was the old testament stuff. (too tired to explain) or did Jesus say:" go with me to heaven if you kill people?

Just think for a moment. If you were forced to love somebody, and if you don't, they punish you. Would the love be sincere?

Just a tip think a couple of minutes before you post would you

No, if someone murders someone else, he should be put in prison, not eternally tortured. The old testament also says women have pretty much no rights, gays and unbelievers should be exterminated, oh, but you can't kill anyone. And Jesus told anyone who didn't hate his family couldn't be his follower

This is exactly how Christianity works. You're forced to love God or suffer eternal punishment.

I do think when I post, but assume all you want.

Okay if you read the Bible you would know what lisener is talking about. Read Genesis: God gave FREE WILL. Why do you think Adam and Eve betrayed him? Free Will, with the help of the devil. The DEVIL SENDS US TO HELL not God. WE CHOOSE TO GO TO HELL WHEN WE DO AS THE DEVIL WISHES. Don't all bad actions have consequences? That is the ultimate consequence. You may not know but the people that are suffering are firm believers in God. They will go to Heaven almost automatically unless they broke any of Jesus' Commandments.

1.again I don't believe in eternal torture so if you debate with me its useless to bring it up.

2.i didn't mean god in that you just dodged the question.

3.i don't assume I know. If I have to tell you 3 times the same point then wtf do you call it.

Sure, and a mob boss doesn't beat you up when you don't pay, you beat yourself.

The new testament is filled with Jesus asking people to worship and obey him. I would cite verses, but there's no point, seeing that the bible is full of contradictions.

    Edit:
    Its called entrapment.
entrapment n. in criminal law, the act of law enforcement officers or government agents to induce or encourage a person to commit a crime when the potential criminal expresses a desire not to go ahead. The key to entrapment is whether the idea for the commission or encouragement of the criminal act originated with the police or government agents instead of with the "criminal."

Breaking Jesus' commandments means you also disobey the Bible. And from what I can tell, the Devil only is in Hell itself, and God sends people to him to get tortured for doing something terrible, like wear clothes that are made from different fabrics. The Devil only seeks to undermine God's will. This is seen as bad, but if I were to read the entirety of the Bible, I would probably sympathise with the Devil more and more.

It doesn't matter what you believe. My claim (and the general claim of this thread) is that God as described in the Bible is a jerk. In the Bible, people are sent to Hell and are tortured for all eternity.

You described something God wouldn't do in a way that perfectly describes Him. Even if you didn't mean it doesn't mean it doesn't describe God.
But, if you really want an answer to your question, you can't force someone to truly love someone. But if you could, you're right, it wouldn't be sincere. It would be ruling through fear, which is exactly what God does.

You say I should think before I post, which I already do. This is an internet forum, why would I hastily type something random when I have all the time to react?

Of course Jesus say's "believe in me and you get to go were I am going" so what? Wasn't that Hes mission. He doesn't force it. He just tells the truth. Example if I said you the following: go around that well WITH ME and live or jump there and die. If you say that in those 2 options is no free will, then you are just wrong.

    1. Give a part from new testament were people are sent to the stereotypical hell?

    2.see my post to josipbroztito

3.are you saying that nobody truly loves god :D I can't talk for every Christian but you first believe in god and Jesus and then in the new testament. I don't know anybody that has done it vice versa. Meaning you can't fear something you love

    4. No idea just getting tired of typing same thing many times

Do you know that God is with everyone of us? If you choose to reject him that is your right. He always calls out to everyone. When I had my last concussion about a week ago. I had a vision of God saying "Spread the word of me" Anyways you will never understand the Religous mind because you have rejected God. How can you post something about God when you hardly know him?

You really think that is free will? Something is wrong with you. Do as I say or die is free will now people. Next time a guy holds a gun to your head and says ''give me all your money or die'' remember that you have a choice.

Who's to say he's telling the truth? In his eyes, yes, of course it's the truth. The problem is that man had been around for thousands of years without Jesus or God, and thrived. To them, polytheism was the truth. To Muslims, Islam and the teachings of Muhammed are the truth, as Muhammed told them it was.
As for "free will", let's look at the Inquisition. The "choice" you had was either convert to the right kind of Christianity (lolwut), or die a horrible death. Man, what choice you had. Of course, if you chose to stick with your version of Christianity, you were wrong in the eyes of the Inquisition, so you'd be sent to hell. They'd go to heaven because they gave you a horrible death, but hey, who cares?

A vision during a concussion, when your head is all messed up? Oh wow, who would've thought that? Most, if not all of these visions (alien abductions and dreams fall in the same category) are tricks your brains are playing on you.
Now, I've never had a religious upbringing, but my parents never told me that there's no God either. But never in my life have I felt the "presence" of God or anything of the sorts.

    Your point being?

The word Gehenna was used several times by Jesus to describe hell, and it means a fiery pit of suffering where evil people are sent.

    Matthew 5:22
    King James Version (KJV)

22But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire.

Hell fire was in original text Gehenna.

gehenna means hell for creek witch comes from a garbage dump from east of Jerusalem... Like said hell to me is a like cosmic garbage dump were people don't suffer only "sleep" (I can't find a better word in English) many times in the bible hell described as a empty and dark. People that go to hell are "trash" they burn meaning go away or like I say "sleep" Plus bible is full metaphors fire hell is one them.
Also if you think god likes that people go to hell read Ezekiel.18:12
Also the well thing was a metaphor.........

That's a matter of belief my friend. With out god we are more brutal. Or were did Jesus tell to rip your enemy's heart out every morning like Aztec? Also Allah is god same as Christian god and they also believe in the same prophets (in case you dint know) and of course you can make your self successful with out god just like ancient Rome. But your soul is empty. (and know if you are wondering Romans dint go to hell, they couldn't know the truth)

Your last "point" wtf is your point! If you died because you didn't agree with the church you wouldn't go to hell.... Church and god are different you do know that? And no the priests who did the evil stuff didn't go to heaven they weren't REAL Christians.

Last time think before you post

They burned trash at that dump. That's why it's translated as ''hell fire''. Hell is described as a place where both body and soul go to suffer.

This is what is said about hell.
    Revelation 14:10-11
    New International Version (NIV)
10 they, too, will drink the wine of God’s fury, which has been poured full strength into the cup of his wrath. They will be tormented with burning sulfur in the presence of the holy angels and of the Lamb. 11 And the smoke of their torment will rise for ever and ever. There will be no rest day or night for those who worship the beast and its image, or for anyone who receives the mark of its name.”

But this probably doesn't count fore some reason.

''And no the priests who did the evil stuff didn't go to heaven they weren't REAL Christians.''
That's not a real Scotsman, his kilt is the wrong colour.

    EDIT:
''Plus bible is full metaphors fire hell is one them.''
    A metaphor of a metaphor?
