Seeing as how the U.S. postal service has turned to shitty service ethics and some such, do you believe that private postal services are better than nationialized postal services?

Well, I think the issue is that a national postal service is outdated. There is simply just not that much mail traffic anymore, and most of it goes to private services.

At this point the public postal system is outdated and needed of serious reform if it is to survive (there is a reason they call it "Going Postal") it might be best to privatize the mail system.

I prefer electronic post personally. As for things that can't be transported via email, don't most people UPS or FedEx that shit anyway?

Don't private services refuse to deliver to some areas?

I think LeonTrotsky is right; we don't send loads of letters every week any more. Plus i'm guessing that junk mail people don't pay out for UPS or DHL or whatever.

Yeah I know but still. They're going to be all like: "When the government fail to make their postal service competitative, they decide to RUIN the lives of HARDWORKING AMERICAN JOB CREATORS! They are a bunch of SOCIALISTS!"

Speed, I have no time. Actually if I have no time why not just send an E-mail.

The National Post Office is one of the largest failures of the American government we can currently see. It's like AMTRAK. Post is not outdated, the Post Office's system is outdated. It needs to be completely remodeled.

It's simply not practical anymore. The government stepped up to it when they saw how few others wanted to, especially since most of America relied on it. But in today's day and age, it is but a relic of the past.

Canada Post would be fine if they didn't strike so much and were open more.
