For an assignment in school I need to read a contemporary young adult novel. Though I absolutely detest young adult novels, and indeed most contemporary literature. So I need some help in deciding what book to choose. You know what to do.

Also I should probably decide, like, tonight, so I can sign out a book from the library tomorrow.

And yes by contemporary I mean published in the last ten years.

I should have clarified, by contemporary they mean, "Published in the last ten years".
    Now you see my problem.

    Since 2002?
When I think of ten years ago I think of 1990.

Damn I had some ideas, but after seeing "published in the last ten years" I don't know what to tell you.

Same problem here. There are some suggestions on my school's website, but only a few of the books have caught my eye, maybe I'll post a few.

    Post them.
The idea that the list had Twilight on it discredits that list. Also they all look pretty bad.

You're right, they're mostly vampire/sci-fi/fantasy or were made for teenage girls.
And I will post the books that caught my eye in a bit, hold on.

A novel written for teen agers or young adults.
And as awesome as the hunger games sound, no sci-fi is allowed.
They're really bustin' my balls here.

Oh. Well, I'm not exactly a reader of those type of novels. I don't think I can help.

I liked it. Not the greatest thing I've ever read by far.

These are books the English Teachers recommended that seemed not shitty.
Sunrise Over Fallujah by Walter Dean Myers
    Purple Heart by Patricia McCormick
    Split by Swati Avasthi

Actually since I came upon this one I think I'll go with that, and those other two as back ups.
Thanks for trying to help though guys.

I've read Sunrise Over Fallujah. It's good, but the one before it Fallen Angels was much better. Not in your time range though.

Nah, it's a fantasy, which isn't allowed either.
