In case you guys wanna check out the demo for Crusader Kings II it had been released. You can get it here: http://www.crusaderkings.com/media/demos
Very intriguing. I'm loving the focus on the human element to building and maintaining an empire across generations. I can tell that heaps of people here will love this game; you can dprank manner of fucked up shit to your family members. A few hours in and I've already married off my teenage daughter to a prince twice her age, imprisoned my wife, executed a few cousins and married again.
I love it. I've never played a grand strategy game before, and I'm definetely going to pick up this. Also, the Byzantine empress is very attractive (sarcasm!) Too bad you can't save though, there was a war against the Seljuq Turks and we won quite a bit of territory from it.
SO MUCH FUN!! Been playing it at 9FPS max and Its so god damn good, words cannot contain the positive feelings I have for this game.
I played Bohemia and was having a good time until I got attacked by 2 different duchies at once. How do you make alliances in this game?
i preordered it, and, am having internal conflicts on whether to play the demo before it comes out or not.
You get alliances for marriages. Not always, but more often than not. If the charackter you marry your son/daughter to has a blue flag besides its portrait, it will make an alliance with the realm he is from!
I played 50 years now as the Batatzes dynasty (County of Korinth). It's so much fun.... I became Duke of Achaia pretty fast, and now my heir is also the heir of the Duchy of Paphlagonia.... Man, I LOVE this game!
Magna Mundi is so incredibly unlike any game ever planned, ever. CK2 is the same pile of shit that is created by every attempt of Paradox Interactive to create a historical strategy game. The "historical" part fucking fails miserably, there is more historical correctness on the fucking History channel. Not to mention that CK2 is the same fucking shit over and over and over and over again. You have a character that you don't even have to develop that much. After 500 years, in game time, you will know every fucking event that fires. You will know where the powerhouses will develop. If you had a choice you would be so sure of a dynasties victory that you would bet your fucking life savings on it. This - I can guarantee you. Magna Mundi, on the other hand, whilst being as predictable, will produce a different game depending on what country you play of, which there are over 400. It aims to simulate the effect that one decision made by the player in Spain will have on the Russian Empire (not directly, and incase you are pedantic, not necesarrily the same scenario), thousands of miles away. Its scope is brilliant (and huge), its devs hard working and creative (and independent), you never know what the next decade might bring and it does all this in a historically plausible context whilst maintaining the same level of satisfaction for every different country that you play. To create a piece of art such as this requires ambition and scope beyond the capabilities of the most extragavant artists. To create CK2 is to create a game that lacks scope and ambition and that aims to appease a crowd rather than create a masterpiece.
I never said that MM isn't great. But you are just talkin crap. Every game that I started in the Demo was different. Even now, in my first start since release, things just change so drastically. Norway won the Battle fo England, the Byzantines got overrun by the Turks etc. etc. To say that the same familes will dominate every game is simply not true (well, except for Russia, but thats because there is only Rurikovich there). If you so sure, name me the life savings you got and bet on the victor, I will gladly start a new game, and get your money.... And next time, if you want to rant, just try to make fucking sense!
I am not talking crap. I know full well what I am talking about. CK1 was a terrible game, and all they do in CK2 is dress it up with new features and sweet looking interface. Magna Mundi is better but it gets less attention because of EU 3 fanboys jumping on the CK2 bandwagon and ignoring MM which deserves waaaaaay more credit than it normally gets.
