So, I was having this discussion with SPQR earlier. Basically, we figured that the world is more and more becoming like the world in the Kaiserreich mod for HOI. Although on a smaller scale, this totally reminds me of the CSA from that universe, albeit on a smaller scale.

Anyway, that's cool. I don't have anything against a little more centralization, but they should definitely keep as much in line with the Horizontal style of democracy that the movement has promoted thus far. I've been up all night, so I'll make a more coherent post when I sleep some.

They actually tried to occupy my school a few weeks back. I was in the library (which is in the center of campus and has a decent sized field the school uses to host guest lectures from time to time, it's where I saw Ron Paul speak last fall) at the time they kicked it off and they did some really loud mic checks and a few other things of that nature. However, when I went outside there was only like 20 people there. By day 2 it was completely gone.

There was an Occupy KU but it was similarly worthless.

occupy is still going. thing is the camps are no longer around. plenty of protests. the media just wont report on it. rather report on whitney houston. reminding us that she died. dont trust the media any more they just lie.

    Not reporting =/= lying.

not excactly. but it is supposed to be a free media that dosent censore anything. when you dont talk about massive protests what am i supposed to think? while they arent censoring it they are blacking it out which is wrong. One of my quotes says "First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you and then you win" right now we are in a ignore/fight area.

I guess massive is a subjective term. I never saw the protests get over a few thousand at it's peak and I can only imagine how far its fallen now.

At any one moment there are a million things worth reporting on.
That they choose not to report on a massive reform movement is suspect, yes, but it doesn't mean that they mean to black it out.
Its not blacked out, its just not on the front page anymore:

The free media would be better described as corporate media. They are beholden to the interests of advertisers, shareholders and governments.

I just meant that the media he was referring to would be best described as corporate media. I have no intention of starting my own unless there's enough popular demand! I think people should be aware of the inherent biases of the most common providers of information.

Oh, I though you were complaining about the corporate media, and I hate complaining. Men take action, children complain.

that is what bugs me about people denouncing the occupy movment as a bunch of kids whining. my question is what is taking action? what is the line between the two? i assume it will be taking action when we come out to the street with guns and civil war starts.

Taking action would be running their people for political offices. If they have enough support, they will win, and if not, well then maybe next time, at least they tried.

To me the Occupy Movement will end up like the Tea Party. It will stay around for a while before it fizzles out and goes home. Still nice to see them while they are around I guess.
