Flame war ends! Shepard is nonetheless the more popular choice but Chief would kill him in an outright fight.

I got the impression that you pseudo-believe that MC would win based on my posts.

Well, it doesn't specifically mention any of these things in the game (as far as I remember, I have every single Halo game on my Xbox). Aside from that, this world of which you speak is completely different, the game is made in a world in which Mass Effect would not be able to survive, and vice versa for the Halo universe.

This entire discussion, according to the reality in which they live, is almost completely useless.

Again, the games are not the canon to use in this instance.
I have already posted extensively on why games are not usually [as in this case] the establishers of canon.

Goddamn, it's like arguing with a wall. A wall that thinks spin off books are the canonical benchmark any given series.

When I said this on the previous page
I should have addressed it to everyone.

I'm using the books, because they are more detailed than the game.

    Spinoff books?
They are canon according to the developers. And everyone else who bothers to get into a serious debate about this.
The Halo book universe isn't so large as to contain many [or even one] non-canon book.

Face it. All you are trying to do is confuse everyone and try to discredit the books since you know that the books contain the vast majority of the details of the Halo universe. You just want to rule out what makes it a more even fight.

The Halo books are pretty good, I've read them all except the new ones.

I remember those books, I used to read them because I literally had no life.

Not true. Apparently your life consisted of reading books.

Ehh, whatever. I've got Crime and Punishment (the book, just to clearify) in their place now, anyhow back to the whole book/canon debate thing regarding video games.

They didn't have an argument in the first place. They just had a misunderstanding.

Really, the actual debate that the thread was set up for was pretty straightforward.

Your canon rules are still flimsy as all hell.

The Mass Effect universe is considerably more advanced than the Halo one, and it's hard to say for certain who would do better in a fight because Shepard could be anything from a sniper to a pyschic hacker. Gun for gun, Mass Effect has the advantage, so Shepard has firepower on his side. Certain abilities of Shepard, depending on his class, are the equivalent of an EMP, which would render MC's shields useless and remove the power from his armor. In terms of physical strength I think that it's obvious that MC would come out on top, but I don't think the fight would come to that. Depending on class, I think Shepard has the advantage in most fights, and if we were to include his squad alongside him then it's a sure win for him.
