Yes and no. It's more specific but conceptually they're meant to do the same thing, ie balance the interests of the democrats and the oligarchs. You can view the Aristotlean model of the Monarch, Oligarchy, and Polity as the Executive, judicial and legislative branches, as they are pretty similar in scope.

Guess I wasn't clear enough then. I was meaning to show their argument not agree with it. Personally, it's a logical argument, but I don't think it's as 100% certain as the early repbulican thinkers lay it out to be, but it certainly holds some weight.

I should've been clearer initially. I'm not taking about as the thread topic suggests a "True Democracy", rather a practical evolution that would make the country more democratic. A stepping stone to a true democracy.

Democracy isn't elections, it isn't a constitution, and it ant a referendum. Its a state of society in which all of society is run collectively and equally by its members. Its mob rule in its purest form, and I love it.

A true democracy is one where the people vote on everything. And this is simply not going to work. Although, in my spare time I'm writing a book/pamphlet about a reorganization of the American government which makes it both Socialist and much more democratic. Actually, once I finish parts of it, I will post ideas on the forums.

It is too big and too inefficient to have everyone vote. We elect representatives to vote for us. Sadly we have a 2 party system in America which destroys the the point. The non-democratic part of the system is not that we have no say in the system directly, but that we only have 2 choices and both are shitty rich politician cock-suckers that don't give a shit about us.

I think this quote sums it up.
"Democracy is the worst form of Government except for all those other forms that have been tried"
    -Winston Churchill (kind of)
