So... I noticed recently that America is a weird fucked up place, we are so ready to help a 3rd world country and send them millions but we will tell an american hobo to fuck off if he askes for 5 dollars from the thousands we make a year and I know the economy has to deal with it but c'mon.

Also speaking of which we should not be giving countries that hate us millions of dollars when we are in the worst financial crisis ever. And most americans are like those snotty rich kids that act like there better than themselves. We complain gas is too high... We have public transportation, bikes, we have cars that get 30 miles to the gallon! Also France has to pay 7 dollars a gallon!

And that isnt a new thing eithier, remember the boston tea party? America had the lowest taxes in the Americas! Not just North but Central and South! We have it the best but we are the fastest to bitch. I want to hear your philosphy on it America.

As Chelsea already pointed out: there is a paradox in what the US promotes on an international stage and what they do on a domestic one. Either you help out or you don't. Its really that simple. As I point out time and time again: in US schools, they teach to share; when they get out into the real world, they are told to be greedy.

Well, in my country, it's been made law that 7% of GDP (I think that's what it is, it was a couple of years ago now) should be sent out in foreign aid. If you ask me, i'd say cut this aid to 'third world' countries, while at the same time cutting this third world debt all the hippies complain about by a similar amount.
Since when did such insidious communist influence exist in the US? I thought you guys only used buses and subways as toilets. At least that's what Futurama taught me.

People just have no idea what they're supporting over here. I forgot the exact percentages, but a couple of years ago there was a poll asking both "Do you support welfare?" and "Do you support aid for the poor?". For the former most said no, but for the later most said yes! Miracles of modern schooling.

I believe that kids in school are indoctrinated from an early age that you must have education and money to succeed. And then they try to teach kids to share. Which is absolutely hypocritical. Second, I believe that America is getting closer and closer to a point where it will be almost impossible to move up from the financial situation you were born in.

I don't know why so many americans are totally against Welfare.

And then, when unemployment is on the rise, an almost exactly relative percentage of people start to like Welfare.

    Hmm.... No connections there...

It's all rhetoric Reagan started, arguing that it meant more government. Some people like my I/O psych teacher think it allows lazy people to get away with being lazy. And when you bring up socialism, forget it.

Further showing that children in America are brought up to be good god fearing capitalists and hate those evil godless socialists.

To be fair to Reagan, he was right in a roundabout sort of way.
Without absolute Communism with a Democratic-style government, the current system would have to expand the existing government to determine what is needed, how to get it, how to distribute it, etc.
He may have overstated it, but he wasn't entirely wrong. The system that the US uses to distribute welfare is massive as it is.

From what my associates in the US tell me, it is a matter of ideology in the US. They believe in 'life, liberty, and property' so to speak. They believe that the individual should not have to give to their fellow. Of course, then it bums into the problem that they also believe in not being greedy.

I recall in a film called 'The Great Debaters' or some such, a man makes the assertion that "Jesus was a Communist." I lol'd.

He argued for less government, but then he pushed federal laws that should really be a matter for the states (following his logic). It's a recurring trend of hypocrisy among many Republicans.

Argentina? Not quite 3rd world, but not quite 1st world either. You guys are transitioning from 1st to 3rd, but don't piss off the English anymore or you shall be reduced back to the stone age ;)

@Imperial: yes, it refers to standard of living, of which Argentina has not quite reached 1st world standards yet.

@Yarpen Isn't Argentina the most developed nation in south America? I wouldn't call it third world.
Also I'm a hippie who is very far to the economic right. Take that stereotypes!
