Let us have an unadulterated discussion about the implications of this specific developmental disorder and its presence in popular culture and the different ways in which the term "retardation" and all of it's derivatives are used in the english language.
    Any contribution is welcome.

Oftentimes, blindness and mental retardation occur as side effects of premature birth. While the two defects come hand in hand in that situation, they are two separate afflictions.

I am having fun with science.
For example I just learned that, in children with mental retardation, autism is associated with aggression, destruction of property and tantrums.

This remind me of someone, who often shows signs of aggression or has tantrums. Also, he's a communist, so he wants to destroy the entire property system, pretty much a whole new level of mental handicaps.

It's funny you should mention autism. I know a guy who's room mate was diagnosed with autism. Funnily enough, he only realized he had autism recently. Autism can be tricky to pinpoint. That being said, autism seems to be taken more seriously nowadays. I'm glad, as people with autism deserve more attention than they are currently being given. I hope that people with autism are given more job opportunities as a result of increasing awareness regarding autism.

I am truly sorry to hear about your friend.
It is a sad reality that people with autism have to face such daunting hardships. A lot of people still believe that autism is a fake disorder or that it is just used as an excuse to be an unproductive member of society.
Here are some examples of the aforementioned phenomena:
As you can see, it is simply baseless smear, lacking even the smallest grain of truth.
I hope that in the near future autistic people will stop facing criticism and be welcomed to their rightful places of employment. I suggest professional can stacking as one of the many career choices they can have.
