Yeah, I have both as well. I think it's such a shame they got rid of all the awesome maps in II, like the Bespin ones, and Rhen Var: Harbour, those were awesome maps. In return, what did we get? Polis Massa? Meh. Luckily, there's that mod I mentioned earlier. I think it crashed when I tried loading multiple maps in Instant Action mode, though.
I have a few ideas Idea No.1: Large scale WW2 FPS in similar vain of Battlefield Idea is to have BF like huge WW2 fps with classes, vehicles, nation based gear & perks, game would support a shit ton of people playing online. Then you have customization where you pick items/perks for your load out. Each nation has it's money/per soldier value and essentially you can get as much gear as your nations maximum allows you. These items for example: Russians get oil that allows them to use bolt action rifles faster, expecially effective during winter. These all would be nation specific. You would also be able to choose your uniform. Now quick rundown of the classes: (These are only core gear you get, you will be able to "buy" new or improve everything bellow) Rifle man: Rifle, some bullets, entrenching tool and a grande Submachine gunner: SMG, some bullets, helmet, two grenades AT infantry: AT-rifle/bazooka (/w rockets/bullets), pistol, ammo, at- grenade/at- mine Sniper: Bolt action rifle, scope, bullets, map (for marking targets), comes with camo outfit Engineer: SMG, bullets, helmet, various abilities (AP mines, barbered wire, ammo box, AT traps...) Machinegunner: Heavy/light machine gun, shit tons of bullets & helmet I would also replicate MOWs armor penetrating values on vehicles. Helmets would also protect you(r head, not face) from smg bullets from close to mid range (damage reduction 50%). Snipers would have a choice to play casually and get their points for normally killing people or go on a special missions that require stealth etc. to eliminate high value target or sabotage enemy re supply point etc. to get allot of points. You don't have bloody screen or regen health. There are wounds you can take. One are lethal and another non lethal. Non lethal wounds can be treated with bandages (option to buy) before you bleed out like in RO2, only that we give you allot of time (20 seconds) to bleed out. You can also loose limbs from explosion (leg or hand) and continue fighting after properly treating it, but severely handicapped. (If you loose leg, you cant walk without a stick and even then walk slowly. Without a hand you will be able only to use one handed weapon and you accuracy is reduced) You can take one perk and it is nation specific. Germans could get "Elite training" that increases accuracy and reduces recoil. As Russian you could get Hero of the motherland, that does not require you to heal up and you can continue as if you're not wounded at all. Americans could get "Mass production" that makes all equipment 50% cheaper.
I've got an idea for a Japanese perk:"Banzai charge" Makes you have 30% more movement speed for twice as much time as a normal sprint.
That would be a good one and each nation would have a handful of perks to choose from. They can also be class specific.
What about the sword, man? You HAVE to have a sword! Oh, that'd be fuckin' awesome, I'd play that game. So, essentially a Red Orchestra 2, except Battlefield style? Not Battlefield 1943 or any of that garbage? Sounds good.
Well D3adtrap talked about buying stuff in-game.Maybe an officer's sword could be included. But weren't the charges mainly done with bayonettes?
Bayonettes have always been ineffective, as technology advanced, the need and general use of a bayonet has declined. A sword is more preferable, if you're doing Trench Warfare. Would be good for flanking all of the enemies and being a sneaky bad-ass.
That would be a great addition. Chopping limbs off left right and center while your enemies try to run for their lives...
PC would be priority, but as BF work on consoles I don't see a problem. All that needs to be done is to limit player count per game. Low end PCs will have a hard time running it.
As long as you don't cut out the multiplayer too much for consoles battfield was pitiful and homefront could do it just fine.
I heard BF3 will have for rent servers on consoles, which if true would be fucking cool for ya console people
I said I have a few ideas, describing them all would take ages. Also there's not a single good up to date WW2 (fps) game out there.
Mine was pretty original, it would actually be usefull to rank up until it becomes a tactical rts, I already wrote it in my idea book.
So, what other ideas do you have? You don't have to write them out completely, a short description will do. Anyway, another idea I had involved some kind of parkour game in a Life After People scenario (It's a show on the History Channel, for those who didn't know. It has fuck all to do with history, and is as US centred as all other shows on there, but it's quite interesting).
I find it to be the most interesting, and beautiful of warfare. By beautiful, I mean the scenery, the weapons and the vehicles.
