I'm not sure, Leutenant, you haven't provided any real information about it, or any news about the particular area wanting to seperate to a different country.

Well as far as i know, none of it wants to become its own nation, most of the people in Kaliningrad consider themselves Russian but the mayor of the city of Kaliningrad has been conducting Re-Germanization of the city by restoring old Castles and Monunments of famous Germans from the city (such as Emmanuel Kant) and Since the city has been ethnicly German since the 1200s and only Russian since 1945 i was simply wondering what everyone else thought on the subject, if you want more info ill post a link to an article about it.

Ideally, it would go back to Germany but the Russians moved all the Germans out of it after WWII and repopulated it with Russians.

As was said before, it is ethnically Russian. Not German. They don't need your Nazi greater Germany bs Lieutenant Germany.
For those not in the know, Kaliningrad used to be East Prussia, but the Russians kept it after the War and repopulated it with Russians.

The only way you could make it German again would be through more ethnic rearrangement, which is something only a Nazi would suggest, let alone do, and two wrongs don't make a right.

Well you are advertising it, you made a thread about it. Which led me to assume you were advocating more Nazi like revanchism and irridentism (which is a disgusting thought).

No im not, i was looking at some articles about the closing days of the war and all the territory occupied by the Red Army i came to the article about modern day Kaliningrad and thought it was interesting, I wondered what other people thought so i made a thread. Honestly i don't want it to rejoin Germany since rebuilding East Germany after the GDR was gone was quite expensive and still a work in progress, it wouldn't be of any benefit and on top of this the people are Russians and wish to remain Russians and im perfectly fine with that.

By the way, why the hell am I the only person who voted no?
It doesn't surprise me that the Fascist voted yes, and it's hilarious that Mayor voted for Poland, but why did nobody vote Russia?

I voted yes purely because of the historical precedent that it was always German, or Prussian, and that I don't believe the Russians should have it because of the crimes they committed to "Russianify" it.

Russophy, and you know who else believed in revanchism? The Nazis. As a matter of fact it was a core tenant of the Nazi ideology.

Giving it back would be too difficult with all the reintegration stuff and re-Germanization, so just keep it Russian.

Germany could trade the city of Hamburg in return for Kaliningrad. That'd be nice and fair for everyone, and Russia would have even a cooler, more remote territory.

The Russians need a port in the Baltic sea and the Germans have plenty so let them keep it.
