I don't know if you've ever actively written for it, but they have people who check. They've compared it to other encyclopedia's, and on major topics it had way less errors or mistakes.
I think the fact that nobody was living in the vast majority of it had something to do with it. Or perhaps it was the fact that they didn't exactly do a whole lot of "controlling". Or perhaps it was the fact that "the Mongols" weren't a single governing body or civilization.
Last I checked all that was saving him was a relations buff. They could go on holy war and win whenever they wanted.
1258. The Mongols should be at the doorsteps of the Prussian lands. I note that Afghanistan's hate of being conquered, if not coming from Alexander the Great (who wasn't a big time looter), had to be orgininated from the Mongols.
"Overall, the Mongol violence and depredations killed up to three-fourths of the population of the Iranian Plateau, possibly 10 to 15 million people. Some historians have estimated that Iran's population did not again reach its pre-Mongol levels until the mid-20th century."
And Baghdad was once one of the greatest cities on earth... The walls weren't good enough. The Caliph was killed by being wrapped in a rug and kicked to death, because Mongols apparently disliked shedding noble blood. *insert Game of Thrones reference*
