Budhists in Tibet have to ask permission from the Chinese government to reïncarnate. I'm not sure what happens if they don't and get caught.
The government doesn't really care about that..like I said the government in China does not care what you do unless it questions their power, or damages the nation in any sort of way!
They did it to stop the Dalai Lama from reïncarnating (why do I want to type respawning everytime?). Maybe they'll try to arrest the next Dalai Lama once this one is dead or something like that.
Well, he challenges their power in Tibet. Maybe in reality this isn't true but I think the government does see it that way.
The Dalai Lama is hoping to go back to his village to die soon. He probably will not be making as much a ruckus as he used to.
Say what you can, believe in what you want to believe, slander each other as much you can. None of these things are not going to help you till the end.
Becuase, you know, generalisation is such a good thing. Of course, if I were to say all Christians were bigoted idiots who believe all gays should be crucified you'd instantly get all uppity and offended, but when you do it, it's fine. I remember your response to when sly said he was an Ancient Alien theorist. Don't be a hypocrite. True, although from what I understand, you did say something along the lines of "Science doesn't know it right now, therefore God". That's not an argument. With current science, I think it's impossible for "spirits" and things like that to exist. Again, it's current science, so that neither means science says it's impossible, nor does it mean it's magic. Or you won't, but we talked about that earlier. Come to think of it, I'm still waiting on a reply on that post I made. It's "argument".
The argument that there is no beginning to the universe is just as solid as the argument that God has always existed. Atheism (and obviously I mean 'strong atheism' here, as that's what the term is meant for) is just as irrational as theism. The truly rational position, according to the status quo paradigm, is agnosticism. Of course, people are going to reject that platform when they reject that paradigm, but what you'll find is that there's not many atheists who (without engaging in copious amounts of cognitive dissonance, anyways) will reject positivism. Ugh, I seriously hate it when people claim Buddhism isn't religion, because it very clearly makes religious claims about the world (probably more than any other religion at that, and certainly more than any other major religion). Buddhism accepts the existence of virtually every deity that's ever been proposed. It does not deny that gods have an impact on mortal life. It doesn't reject the existence of magic. It has its own set of proxy-deities to worship, and in some sects (some of the most popular, at that), worship of these proxy deities is all that's necessary to reach an equivalent of heaven (not Nirvana, but about as damned close as you can get). Buddhism is possibly the most religious religion in existence, and just because you're uneducated about it doesn't turn it into some New Age hipster bullshit that's only one step removed from atheism.
What do you think that status quo paradigm is? I'm a little confused, are you saying it isn't positivism or that it is?
Oh, well yeah that definitely creates a bit of a problem for the really militant atheists out there. I have a feeling that a lot of the atheists that dwell on the internet (or at least the ones I've met) don't know what that means. That, and if they did know what it means they could easily rationalize it as a tool to discredit religion even more.
Well its REALLY easy to discredit others beliefs when you have a sharp tongue and VERY LOUD VOICE to cover over the mumbling of the believer.
Discussing religion is pointless. You can always say yours is better, but you know...you won't ever know the truth by questioning, you can only believe in it. If I believe in God or not shouldn't matter to you, only for ME, because that's what I believe, not YOU. Also both atheists and christians are annoying as fuck when discussing because the only questioning they do can't be proved or disproved on either sides, so fuck all.
While it may be pointless, I personally find it hugely interesting. Of course, religion is a very personal matter, or at least, it should be.
