I don't think we really need this thread, the debate was pretty much over anyway. I'm repeating myself ad nauseam. I'll reply to this and then again in a day or so in case the debate becomes interesting.

Yes it does. If you don't know who the most important guy in the field of economics was, then we can safely conclude that you don't understand economics. Your lightbulb analogy is flawed. You can't compare a lightbulb with a scientific field. The latter requires a lot more understanding, which includes knowing who the most important scientists were and what their theories consist of.

Well someone once analogized socialism with birds....so I'm pretty sure my lightbulb analogy isn't flawed.

Actually a ton of people know who Thomas Edison is.

No. Just no. Your telling me every person who knows what the lightbulb is knows Thomas Edison?

I said a ton of people know who he is.

I would say over half of the world knows who he is.

Thomas Edison didnt invent the lightbulb.

My point is Thomas Edison is irrelevant because he didn't invent the lightbulb. Economics can literally be attributed to Adam Smith.

I know. But there is even less likely of a chance of people knowing who Humphry Davy is.

That's not my point. My point is the argument about Edison is unknown.

You don't see people claiming they know everything about the lightbulb either.

Yes I do. I'm sure some electricians do. But I don't see anyone claiming the know everything about economics either.

No one knows everything about even a simple topic.

Yes they do. For instance, while Marx was alive I guarantee he knew everything about socialism and communism.

He isn't a person. Don't drag religion into this.
