So, I entered here like "oh hai guys" because I've just seen a Boston Legal chapter, related to religion and stuff, and BAM!, half hour wasted while my fucking homework is laughing at me. Therefore, I must comment.

Although I don't usually agree with Kali, I agree with all that about dogmatism, anti-theists and etc. Most atheists I've known are really annoying.
And to BigFacialHair, it's good that you know many languages (including extinct languages), a lot of history, the Bible and bla bla bla, but you really have to use ";)" so many times? It's driving me crazy, I tell you.

The reason that I used Odin or Zeus as examples is because we can discern whether claims made about their existence are factually possible. For most gods, that is impossible to do. The Christian God, for instance, has many claims made about His nature, and we can prove that some things in the Bible are factually incorrect or contradictory, but that only invalidates what we know about God's nature, not His existence.

The logical consistency and soundness of a deity that is the creator, omnipotent, omniscient, and omnibenevolent is perfect, but we can't say anything about what that deity has actually done unless we want to assume that a religious text describes them, in which case we are bound to find errors that do not accurately describe such a deity or whatever historical/physical phenomenon that it claims the deity is responsible for.

In this sense we can say definitively that the God of the Christian Bible does not exist, but again, it's in the same sense that we can say, for instance, that poverty does not exist in a community. We know that a concept can possibly exist, but that the circumstances before us are not accurately described by that concept.

As well, I've already told you several times to stop assuming I'm a Christian, but I suppose that that's all you're actually capable of, since you've only got "Babby's Atheism Starter Kit".

    Wrong! Read it up dude!

The Pope is the representetive of god on earth acording to catholics. he has authority of those who are true believers. Sub-Saharan Africa is one of the poorest regions in the world, and they do believe strongly. To deny what the Pope says, is to deny god.

Since we know that HIV is spread by sexual contact, and the Pope forbids to use the one thing that can prevent spread, the conclussion must be, that there are people infected by HIV due to the pope. Logic, just follow it!

Read the Link above again, and than correct your numbers. Please do me a favor, and inform yourself about that matter before pulling shit out of your ass. Thanks!

Its funny how you two are arguing from the same side but with different points of view and trying to prove eachother wrong(thats how i see it). Mustachio taking the more aggressive and source based argument. Kali on the other hand has taken the more moderate, rational and criticism way. Also you both are off topic, just mentioning.

The number of catholics in Africa is not very high. When we see figures saying that the most popular religions in Africa are Islam and Christianity, they are talking about Christianity. Christianity is an umbrella term, and catholics make up only one sect.
You can't blame the pope for HIV. Its absolutely insane.
I have informed myself in the matter extensively. I want to be a CDC viroligist when I'm an adult, and that means I have educated myself extensively on all matters involving many diseases. If you insist, I'll give you some actual math and statistics, and then show you the amount of people that may be infected with AIDS because of the pope. There are 158 million Roman catholics. This is around 17% of Africans. It is estimated that across the world 34 million people are infected with AIDS. Of these, around 23 million live in Africa. 50% of people infected with AIDS are woman, so we half this to around 11.5 million woman with AIDS in Africa. Around 17% of those, or around 2 million, are Roman Catholics. So we have 2 million Roman Catholic woman in Africa infected with AIDS. 0.05 percent of woman give birth every year. That is around 100,000 children born to AIDS infected mothers in Africa who are Roman Catholics, every year. We shall assume 90% of these children become infected. The number is now reduced to 90,000 children every year born with AIDS to a Roman Catholic mother in Africa. That is a more significant number than I guessed, however, its still nothing when compared to the tens of millions infected in Africa alone. Finally, we were not able to calculate many variables. For instance, that number of 90,000 is done off of very vague statistics, but it gives you an idea. It also assumes that every single Roman Catholic in Africa does not use a condom. It goes on to assume that the levels of infection are the same all across Africa, regardless of wealth, social status, or place of residence (as long as its in Africa). Because of all these variables, I can comfortably say the Pope is responsible for a very minimal amount of Africans dying of AIDS.

The CDC is the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the federal agency responsible for combating epidemics, pandemics, biological warfare, etc.

Pff, that probably is zionist marxist liberal propaganda. Everybody knows that main religion in Africa is a mix between voodoo and taoism.

This had already been established. Is there any chance you have a similar map about the different branches of Christianity?

As Kali said, Centers for Disease Control. They are similar to the WHO, just a US federal agency and obviously funded by the US, while the WHO is a UN organization.

Also, @greatmustachio, I finished my numbers and statistics.

So, by this map and using mustachios logic, I can fairly assume that Islam prevents AIDS, because those countries who are less than 10% Muslim happen to be the places where AIDS is most prevalent. So guys, less Islam = more AIDS :p
It was still assumed, unfairly. Although it has been pretty much proven now.
