Humanitarian missions?

    So i was in JROTC today {junior reserve officer training course which is not as hard as people here make it out to be}
    when the Instructor said that humanitarian missions are always being done by the milatary but the media never report on it because it does not sell papers. he also said that most members of the milatary have done at least one humanitarian mission. Thoughts on this and why is that i never heard about this untill a ret. veteran tells me?

    It's not really hidden, it's just rarely reported on by major news networks. Not really exciting to hear a report about how soldiers are handing out water bottles or food to impoverished people or refugees. I think that most people are aware of it though, so I can't speak to why you've never heard of it before.

    Yeah, I knew the military did humanitarian stuff, but I pretty much forget they did until this reminded me. It really isn't mentioned much.

    It's nice that they take breaks from bombing small, defenseless nations in order to hand out some water.

    Here's a nice statistic:
    It costs about $2008 dollars a year to feed a child in America with a healthy, nourishing diet.
    The military costs $1.4 trillions dollars a year to fund.

    If all the money we spent on the military was, instead, spent on feeding children we would be able to nourish 697,211.15 children every year. Mind you, that's with an American diet which is superb. Imagine a less awesome diet which is probably what we would give them?

    That's upwards of a million lives per year saved from starvation and thirst.
    But you know. I'm probably just a crazy Leftist.

    You should learn to spell military before you join them.

    If you totally cut the military you'd have to pay for distribution costs. There would be people in administration that would doubtless steal even more money then they cost to hire. Then there would be no way to ensure these people got the food anyway because we have no military and we're sending this food into warzones and anarchy ( the places this is truly needed)

    An outrageous failure of an operation is what you propose.
