I see history as more of a collection of events that happened and recorded. Modern day really fits into that don't ya think?

My closing argument will be: So, if Carthage wiped out Rome, Persia took over Greece, or if the Mongols were never stopped, we wouldn't experience its outcomes at all today? we wouldn't be using a derivative of the Phoenician alphabet? We wouldn't be learning more about Ancient Carthage and Persia, rather than Greece & Rome?

Well I can still observe the political, economic and social impacts of the late middle ages, the french revolution, the industrial revolution, hell even the collapse of the Roman empire or the discrovery of fire. History and the writing of it is largely determined by the relevance of it for the modern world.

You can't see the effects of the collapse of the Roman Empire.

Without its collapse, or with a different one political boundaries would have been significantly different throughout Europe.

Doesn't mean you can see the effects. The borders you see today were decided in the 2oth century, in most cases.

Political Science is the study of politics in a scientific way, it has nothing to do with what I was trying to say.

No the borders were generally determined throughout the middle ages, but they only formed national states throughout the 19th and 20th century.

Oh good, history for morons who can't be bothered to learn otherwise.

The history channel is filled with bullshit for idiots. Just like the rest of television these days.

It's still a good show, and at least it teaches "morons" history. If it teraches morons who don't want to watch a documentary something about history and perhaps gets them interested in history, then I am all for it.

Very dishonorable history lesson here, the USA sacked mexico city in the first American war of aggression that my simple kind dubbed it, after it the US marine corp invented the song halls of montezuma, pretentious fucks if you ask me.
