For those of you who don't know, today is Cinco De Mayo which means May 5th in Spanish. This day commemorates the day that Mexican forces defeated a French army.
Yes, they defeated the annoying Imperials. Weird because everyone thinks this was the Mexican War of Independence in the 1820's, not 1860's.
Even better, it's the only battle they won in a war they lost. Lost to the French. This shouldn't be a holiday.
The turning point wasn't until 1865, when the republicans (Mexican defenders) began to get momentum against the French. Also there was American support, which blockaded to prevent French reinforcements and also sent an army near the border.
Well idk bout you guys but every year pretty much all the girls from the high school wear red, white, and blue bikini's and I live 3 houses away from the high school so I pretty much know them all
Before you insult me and my heritage, we barbequed, had a big feast, listened to the songs of my people, and lamented about the old country, nothing to do with patriotism.
I was born Mexican/Salvadorian, I'm not solely Mexican. I'm happy with who I am and I wouldn't change a thing.
