The guy wants a 45 % tax on the people who an income superior to 100000 euros per year and he wants to spend more on education and in the police forces; build more houses and give funds to people who live in suburs (since that is going to help something!).

If it's the large amount spending this will raise revenues in taxes and get people back to work creating more money for the govment to spend.

Nice. The first of Europe's austerity nutbags is toppled. This combined with the english local elections this week makes me a cheery chappy indeed.

As usual all of Crocve's comments are over blown hyperbolic rhetoric. I am interested in how this will now effect European politics, like the interplay between France and Germany, how the new French government will deal with the Greek crisis etc.

Though my favourite is when people start claiming "HURR DURR, FRANCE WILL BE THE NEXT GREECE NOW!" Which is what people claim anytime any country moves remotely to the left. It's quickly becoming similar to when people drag up Hitler or Nazism in their argument, the last refuge of a man with no argument.

The French show, yet again, that they want to have their cake and eat it too. Reality will show, once again, that it's not going to work out that way for them.

Rightiests do bad, Leftiests make gains. Leftiest do bad, Rightiests make gains.

Elections have little to do with ideology anymore, its primarily about who has the the best ad campaign and who is on the opposite of the last winning party.

Yes, because every country that had a social-democratic party in the government in the last ten years is now bankrupt and the unemployment rate is through the roof! Countries like Sweden and Germany are completely dependant on loans of capitalistic powerhouses like China. Except, they aren't. Social-Democratic parties and their ideas of how to run a country do work, as history in Europe shows over and over again. Something someone like you will never grasp I guess, but hey, the thing with cutting education applies to you too I guess ;)
