Soviet dictator Josef Stalin tried to create an invincible army by crossing humans with apes, according to secret documents. The Kremlin chief ordered his scientists to create the mutant species that would be "resilient and resistant to hunger".
Archive papers quote him demanding the breed should be of "immense strength but with an underdeveloped brain".
Part of his terrifying plan was use the mutants to work on railway construction, according to The Sun.
Secret laboratories and ape skeletons have been found in the Black Sea town of Suchumi in Georgia, by workmen building a playground for children.
The bones are thought to come from apes captured in the 1920s and paid for by Stalin, who ordered scientist Ilia Ivanov to carry out the research.
The leader used a French research station in Guinea for the work, where African women were seized to be impregnated with ape sperm.
No pregnancies resulted but the next stage was to implant human sperm in female gorillas.
Ivanov was arrested in 1930 after his project failed and he died in a labour camp two years later.

It's amazing the kind of bullshit propaganda anti-communists will come up with. Completely fake, and I'm gonna take a bet and say there is no actual evidence to prove this, apart from more crayon drawings and 'Unnamed/anonymous sources'.

Edit: Oh, and let me guess - This comes from the history channel? The same channel which teaches that aliens built the pyramids, and that the world is gonna end in 2012?

Yes this is completely based on real historical archives...
Even if you haven't read history you should understand that this would be a big subject if it actually were true.
This is just another fake thing history channel have published to get attention.

Well there was this guy, Ilia Ivanov, who did acttually recieve backing from the Soviets in the 1920's to create a human/ape hybrid. However I can't find anything that mentions Stalin wanting an army of manapes at his disposal, so I say this documentary exagerated just a little bit.

Yeah, I'd bet that every major country at the time tried something like that. And "Just a bit'? They physically claimed they Stalin himself authorized the kidnapping, and rape of hundreds of people in an attempt to create a slave-race pf mutants, and they 'Exaggerated just a little bit'? If this sort of claim was put out about America, you'd be furious at anybody who suggested there may be some truth behind it. The double-standards and blatant hypocrisy of you Anti-Communists drives me mad.

Care to provide anything that shows other countries doing this? At least Spartacus tried to find a middle ground. But apparently if he does anything but cry foul on this, he's an anti-communist asshole.

So, people, this is a good example of where context is required. Soviet Russia was not America. Soviet Russia was responsible for nutbaggery like Lysenkoism. So I think there's certainly some credit to the idea that some particularly weird science was probably pursued there. And if you want to talk about hypocrisy, I'd be willing to bet that if this was the other way around, and there was evidence to suggest the US government in the 30s pursued similar ideas, you wouldn't bat an eyelid.

Look I know anti-communist propaganda when I see it - I had to sit through the fucking Soviet Story when studying 20th century Russia back at A-level (I made a formal complaint to the head of the department, but still). This is just the history channel being the history channel.

This sounds like it's from Stalin vs. The Martians.
The History Channel should do something like a documentary about the events of SvsM depictaded as real events.

Oh Jesus Ler, this is why so many people don't like you. All I was saying was that there was a project funded by the Soviets to breed a human and an ape together, that's it. I was not insulting Communism or the USSR for funding the project, in fact I find the idea interesting. When I said just a little bit, I meant a lot. No one is hating on Communism, take a deep breath and calm down.
