So, I just purchased another minecraft server, for the purpose of hosting a Commies vs Capi's game. The game is going to be -Extremely- heavily modded, with a structured ruleset, and this time, will have the tekkit pack (Which includes mods like industrial craft/build craft, computer craft, EE, and etc) - So basically, we will be able to build huge technologically advanced industrial factories, computery-type things, lazers/guns, and even WMD's. My plan is for both sides to build their own separate cities, and compare not only the military power of the two, but also the economic and technological advancements, resource management, and general cooperation/leadership styles of the two. I think this will be pretty interesting from both a game play standpoint, and also a social-experiment-type standpoint Due to the purpose of how heavily modded it will be, it will require download of an alternate client, I will link to shortly. Anyway, if you're interested in this, I'd like a list who may be playing, and which side they will be on. I'll update this post with more stuff soon. 'N stuff. Edit: The server is now up. Ip is 209.236.125.196 . I'm gonna be adding in Plugins for the next few days, but tekkit is already up. Remember - You need the tekkit client to play on the server! You can get it here - http://www.technicpack.net/tekkit/ - Please keep checking back on this thread.
There are already quite a few people who expressed interest in it. About 5/6, all commies though. The idea sold well the last two times, so I assumed it would go down Ok now.
The are enough people interested to justify a server as is. I just thought this could be a cool thing to bring to the forums. If not, no real loss. Pretty much, yeah. The idea is to see which side can more effective advance industrially, technologically, and which side in general forms a better civilization.
Well, I doubt you will be able to find even teams, particularly any competent capitalists. At all, even.
If not, then I guess I'll find some other way to divide up the teams. Perhaps randomization, or something. For now though, I want to try and stick with this idea.
The server is now online. I'm still got to install some mods, but right now, tekkit is up In order to play on the server, you will need to download the tekkit client at - http://www.technicpack.net/tekkit/ Absolutely nothing is built yet, but anybody from the community is welcome to play. If any capi's are interested, feel free to find a spot for your community.
Once you're ready to go live let me know and I can either promote (aka put this on the front page) this thread, or we can start a new thread explaining your new server
Sign me up for this! also sometimes the Computer mod will bug out and not work. But if you dont get enough people you can always try and make us one big group and se how long we can last, mostly because tekkit (or Technic don't know which one) will be a very very slow start and using aton of resources and what not.
Your best bet would be to only allow people who are competent at role playing on the Capi side. Practically anyone with at least some cooperative building experience can play the role of a commi just fine.
I think I'm ready to go live. I'm not sure if I should set up a system where you have to PM me for the IP, or if I should just make it public. Regardless, I guess you could put it up on the front page.
Just let me know if you want me to help out with that. I know a few guys have pm'd me about a tekkit server so I'm sure you'll be getting some traffic
Thank you. Would it be possible to put up the first post on the main page? Or do you think I should make a new thread, or something?
Easiest would be to make a new thread then I can promote it. The formatting gets all funny because it reformats it to that silly stuff you click on at the front page
