The USSR would probably have been a pioneer in microwave technology as opposed to rusty submarines. However, history has taught us that most communist dictators clearly didn't need any extra help developing paranoid schizophrenia.

As much as I love Stalin, Even I admit he was a paranoid schizophrenic, still better then Trotsky.

Lenin was only in power seven years. (1917-1924)
Pol Pot was in power for three.

In three years Pol Pot killed 2.5 million people.
In seven years Lenin killed 30,000.

    This is according to this:
    http://www.scaruffi.com/politics/dictat.html

These estimates seem ridiculously low, then again they only count genocide totals. So has anyone got better sources? I'm pretty sure Lenin killed like 3 or 4 million, which means Pol Pot killed more people per year. Not to mention, Russia at the time of Lenin had a lot more people than Cambodia at the time of Pol Pot. In fact, under Pol Pot's regime, you only had something like 66% chance of living.

    I found this: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20080624202621AAK9oBH

It seems to put Lenin's death toll anywhere from thousand to 3 million, still not that many. That's not even as many as Leopold II of Belgium, who allegedly was directly responsible for the deaths of 8 million.

Why all the hate on Lenin? I can understand Stalin and Mao, but Lenin was an hero and brought Marxist philosophy to a revolutionary situation you damn dirty orthodox Marxist.

The rest I won't argue with you on, but saying Hitler is responsible for all deaths in World War II is like saying Alexander, Caesar, and all those other generals that started wars were responsible for all those deaths in said wars. Therefore, every person who has ever started a war has committed mass genocide and is responsible for tens-hunreds of thousands, if not millions of deaths.

Read the rest of the goddamn answers!!! I said 30,000 to 3 million. Did that one top post say anything about 30,000 to 3 million? No. Read the other answers too, I posted it because I wanted you to see the estimate range. And I'm not endorsing the answers in any way, just putting them out there.

Which is why there should have been other leaders. Kim Il Sung, Pol Pot, Saddam Hussein, Tojo, Menghistu, Fumimaro Konoe , etc.

I wouldn't call Saddam Hussein or Il Sung some of the worst.

    Saddam Hussein has killed 600,000.
Kim Il Sung has killed at least 1.6 million, and that's just through his purges. Imagine all those dead of starving and deplorable conditions he is responsible for.

Again, 600,000 is nothing compared to the other leaders. 1.6, is debateable, but not one of the worst.

600,000 is a lot. And 1.6 million is JUST FROM PURGES. We can probably credit Kim Il Sung with (this is my estimate), 3 -6 million more dead from famine. Meaning more than Lenin, for sure.

I would elaborate, but I've already made a number of threads and posts on the subject. Click here to see some.

Much appreciated. Also, fun bit of trivia - Lenin purposefully avoided public debates with Kerensky, since he had a habit of losing them. Apparently when he went up against someone who was equally charismatic and not peddling a sociopathic agenda he got his arse kicked.

He still wasn't as bad as Kim Jong Il or Pol Pot

Make no mistake, I despise Lenin because if he has sent an example of a fair democratic moderate socialist government, which he could easily have done, then the Soviet Union would be one of the most, if not the most powerful countries on Earth right now. Also, a democratic and moderate socialist government would probably have been on better terms with the west. I hate Lenin for fucking over Russia for another 100 years and screwing up socialism for even longer.
