can America be called an empire

can you call America an empire and if so do you think that america will follow the same fate as all the other empires also if they do fall who will replace them when they fall. my opinion is yes you can call america an empire they will fall within the next century and china will take their place

America doesn't have an emperor/empress, so no, it's not an empire.

The British Empire never had an Emperor of Empress, just Kings and Queens.

In response to the OP, I don't think it could be considered an Empire, since for that definition to be fulfilled a country must colonise and occupy other countries and areas of the world, which America has not done.

i think america is an empire because even though they don't directly control other countries the have a lot of influence in most of the world.

America is clearly not an empire. Now it does like to occupy countries and spread it's influence but until it actually takes over countries and assimilates them into the USA or colonizes it cannot be considered one. Being the dominant influence/power in the world does not automatically make it an empire.

Influence doesn't create an Empire, you need to actually take over several countries to have one.

what about the native american land they invaded that

America is simply a large country. Many countries have invaded and colonized others in the past and yet are still just considered countries. America would still need to directly take over some other countries before it could be considered an empire.

you guys seem to forget how America controlled the Phillipenes and still control samoa and Puetro Rico. I dont see how installing dictatorships/police states doesnt also count as taking over look at south America almost every country has a government that was put there by the US all because of there friends at United Fruit who wanted wanted a monopoly over the natural resources there. Why do you think we had men like Che Guevara he was fighting imperialism and puppet governments. America just didnt do this with dictatorships as they tried in Cuba. They succesfully overthew the Allendes government in Chille which was a democratically elected by the people so yes they are an empire but not a regular empire their a new kind one that doesnt have its borders expand but instead cares about there hegomony, and the ability to monopilize all resources in (insert 3rd world country) for mighty capitalism
