Probably the best fantasy series ever written. Seriously. I can say that he's easily better the Tolkien and everyone else.

That's like saying jacking it is better than sex.

    And Tolkien is sex.

I'm currently reading The Name of The Wind, was looking for a fantasy series to read for a while and found it a few weeks back. I can say that I'm definitely enjoying it, so far it's very cosy and stimulating. I absolutely love the role the music plays for Cough in this book (that's how his name is spelled right? I'm listening to an old audiobook). I've gone about 3/4 through the book and so far the only thing that reminds me of Tolkiens work is how much background history there seem to be in this world and the poetic value of stories, music and poetry itself that exists in their worlds.

Other than that there is nothing I find particularily similar between this series and those of Tolkien, and neither between the two writers and their writing style. I don't like to compare writers with eachother or their work with other work in the sense that comparing which one is better. It's art and entertainment to me, while neither is better but only different, I may find the work of one writer more enjoyable than that of another, and that is simply because of personal taste and appeal in entertainment.

So far I'm probably enjoying this more than I enjoyed The Lord of The Rings triology, in the way that I feel much more relaxed and cosy when listening to it but I felt much more excited reading The Hobbit.
