If you want to be a member of a particular societal group (I say group or portion, not state or country because borders don't exist) and reap the rewards of a society wherein people are endowed with free healthcare and ensured housing, schooling etc then you should be forced to work at that age and also be forced to attend school. 8 hours work, 8 hours school, 8 hours rest.

EDIT: *wouldn't exist not *don't exist

Where's the fun in that? Sounds rather boring.

But it's productive. That's what matters. It's not like it's 24/7. You'd still have some respite. But ideally it would be the 8/8/8 rule.

I think I'm far too fond of being lazy to support that. I imagine I speak for a lot of people when I say that, too, heh.

Also if it's divided up like that between work, school and sleeping, doesn't that essentially mean they'd have no free time at all unless they let it cut into their sleep hours? Sounds more like a prison schedule. Just saying.

I'm assuming there would be holidays and weekends. Teens in the USSR enjoyed much free time and had many things to do in their down time. I just propose something more strict to get through a time of revolution and the implementation of a new form of government. I suppose for younger children there could possibly be more relaxation. But if you're an adult and not a mother of small children, your ass is going to work. Hard.

Oh, okay. I thought you meant just in general terms as opposed to a period of upheaval.

No, no. This is not the DPRK haha. What a joke.

As long as work comes first and you don't go overboard with personal property I'm sure you'd be fine.

I'm not a red or an anarchist, so i just keep to my own business and that stuff which affects my family most, I am fine with the current system. I do like personal property though.

I used to believe in the abolishing of the familial unit. Like Lenin. I've since lightened up.

Do as you do. I'm just ready and waiting for everything to go to shit so the Reds can rise :)

It's physically just about impossible to both work and study 8 hours a day and have just 8 hours to eat and sleep. Sure, it would work for a week or so, but after that, I imagine all youths would be absolutely exhausted.

They'd adjust. I did it for two years and had a kid as well. Millions in the US do it all the time.
