So is most stuff. Science. Technology. Psychology. Philosophy. Religion. When you are discussing alternate history, you will learn a lot more about history than you seem to think. Also, a discussion on history as it was invitably leads to discussion on alternate history.
Bullshit, historical discussions can only ever turn into alt history debates when someone asks "what about if so and so had lost the battle of Wu-tang" or something to that effect. Proper discussions ask why something happened, which is alot more interesting.
Okay well let's see if we can have just a historical question. Do you feel that Germany should of been blamed for the war as was? In my opinion no, Germany did help spread the war, but Russia started too spread it before Germany did by backing up Serbia. To me if Russia stayed out of it I feel World War I would of just been a small war between Austria-Hungary and Serbia.
I hold firm that the Jews were the winners of WWI. I mean sure it may have set them up to become the victims of one of the largest genocides in human history, BUT, you know. Jews.
Well you cannot really blame any of the major powers, because they had these alliances and were obligated to fight with them. This ofc blew up when there was buh zillion alliances some crossing one another.
Well it would have been kinda hard blaming Czarist Russia. You know, Csarist Russia being all but gone at that time.
Well no, I'm just saying that Germany shouldn't have been blamed, but at the time they needed someone.
Well to the victors go the spoils as they say. Also millions of people are killed better make it look like all that was worth someone and to make sure we look like the "good guys" in this war.
I don't think there were "bad guys" and "good guys" in World War I. World War II, of course it's pretty easy to say who they were, but not really in this war. It was as much Germany's fault as it was anyone's. You can't really blame any particular nation, except perhaps Austria.
I agree with you on the idea that their were no "bad guys" and "good guys", I'm just stating that's what people like to think, no one really likes to say there on the bad side in a war.
No one can really be blamed for WW1. But, the loser has to pay for the war, regardless of whether or not they actually started it. I have another question to pose. If Germany had won WW1 (don't bother with the whys or hows), would they have put such harsh surrender terms to the allies? Or would the Kaiser have been more lenient. For some historical perspective, the Kaiser made the French give up two provinces and pay 5 billion francs. Because of that, I'm of the opinion that the Kaiser would give harsh surrender terms.
