Expansions for Rome 2. Persian expansion, greek expansion, alexander expansion, third century crisis expansion, barbarian invasion, the iberian wars, caesar in gaul/the roman civil war, etc.

No. No. No. I don't want them to spend decades on expansions :p

They wouldnt take decades. A couple of them can be expansions and one of them can be like what Napoleon total war was like for empire and what FOTS was was for Shogun 2. They can make a game with mini campaigns. Oh, maybe they can make a Diadochi Total War as an expansion as well.

well what they could do is like in Napoleon Total War where you could play throughout Napoleon's Career. They could have multiple campaign scenarios with a set goal in addition to the traditional Total War campaign. Like there could be a Greco-Persian War campaign where you play as one the Greek citie states against the Persian Empire. Or a Julius Caesar campaign where you play thoughout Julius Caesar's life

Eh I'm not really that into the Rome era. So, I hope they don't put so much into a Rome 2 Total War, although its not like I'd boycott it or anything.

I don't know, I'd really like another melee style TW game, the gunpowder units really didn't do that much to me.

Well, I think they could do a different style of melee though. Rome, while having fun melee, isn't as interesting to me as the Medieval era. I like more emphasis on cavalry and arrow troops, so I'd really love a Mongol Total War.

Different style? I don't know, running into each other and slashing and stabbing seems to be the only kind of melee style I can think of.

Can't argue with you there. Although FOTS is really fun to watch and play.
There are a lot of tactics. I like a more skirmish type melee, as opposed to long battle lines charging and meeting at the middle of the field. My total war tactic is divide and conquer, and I can't do that as effectively in Rome Total War.

In the end it still comes down to running into each other and stabbing and slashing until one side is dead, no matter how tactical it is.

Why make a third medieval campaign? There is so much they can do in the classical era that they haven't done yet, it is agonizing.

It's more about what consumers will actually buy than what history geeks find interesting. And for the record as much as I loved Rome, I actually think in FOTS they managed to finally get shooting battles to be fun, so I wouldn't be at all opposed to some more 19th century action.

I hope not permantly, but I hope they are done with it for a while.

Haven't most total war players been begging for Rome 2 ever since the original Rome came out?

Well since Medieval 2 was so good I hope they leave it that until one they make a Rome 2 Total War and two they have some really good new ideas and changes they go include in a Medieval 3 total war

I'm talking about more obscure requests like Diadochi total war and stuff like that.

Mongol Total War would not be a Medieval 3 Total War. That's like saying FOTS was Napoleon 2.
