King John, because his incompetence led to the creation of the Magna Carta. I still prefer Cromwell though, I don't think much of monarchs.

They all tended to suck and oppress people. It's more choosing your dictator than favorite leader.

Not a monarch, at least in my opinion.
Not worthy. Or maybe just because I don't know all that much about him :p

Frederick is far superior. He led small Prussia to a mighty victory over both Russia and Austria, the two most powerful European countries at the time.

Don't be too naive, remember the Miracle of House Brandenburg. I wouldn't say he defeated Russia as God intervened.

Am I wrong? Did the Russian monarch at the time not die before being replaced by a German who admired Frederick the Great so much he rushed to make peace with Prussia right as Russian troops stood at Berlin's door?

While true, it doesn't change the fact that Frederick with an average army of 30,000-40,000, held off armies of the two greatest empires in Europe, and survived. He beat the Austrians, he beat the Russians, he beat the French, and he beat the Swedes in the sense that he lasted the entire 7 years of war.

Nonsense, it is relatively relevant. It shows a number of points.

    1. Napoleon was a skilled tactician and lead the French as if they meant to be win.
    2. Austria sucks at war.
    3. Frederick the Great was so great, he absorbed the greatness of the Prussians and hindered them for it.
    4. God hates the French and likes Prussia. Hence why Brandenburg was saved by a miracle and Napoleon was defeated by bad weather.
    5. Frederick wasn't as feared as Napoleon.
Personally, I ADORE Frederick the Great. But if a man is going to lose, he is going to lose. He was saved by a miracle and probably would be a footnote in history if the Tsarina didn't die when she did. Little German dude who replaced her just happened to like Frederick enough to end the war.

He was a great man, but he was also lucky.

Surely every great man in history is there partly because he was lucky?
