    By God he's angry.
Surely David Cameron has every right to try and fight tax avoidance, and if that means naming people to draw attention to such an important issue, so be it.
Myself, I dislike people like the man in this video. He is blinded by his hate, and I do not see how anyone can have a proper political debate. What idiots like this don't realise is that Cameron does what he does because he believes it will help this country, not because he wants to attack all the poor people.
Whether you agree with Camerons policies is a completely different issue, but such ill-informed, senseless and idiotic rants as this is do not contribute anything to anything.

I have literally no idea how anyone is capable of this much hate.

No, Cameron does what he does because it helps his voters and his financial backers. It's really that simple. He shook up the NHS simply so he could get more tory-voting private contractors involved in our health service.

While the bloke in the video is a little... embarrasing, he has plenty of cause to be outraged. Both our major political parties are a complete joke, and personally I think Cameron and any of his fellows in the House of Commons lost the right to call ANYONE morally repugnant over misusing public money after the expenses scandal, which truly was disgusting behaviour.

So why would Cameron dedicate his whole life to politics?
I know he has to try and gain votes, but if he has dedicated his life to politics, surely he must feel he is doing the right thing for the country.

And your second point mostly coincides with mine, that such pointless anger doesn't do anything constructive. And although I am with you on condemning all those involved in the expenses scandal, but essentially what they are doing is naming Jimmy Carr, as a household name, to bring attention and public concern on the issue of tax avoidance.

Durr hurr don't you know politicians aren't people? They have no emotions, ambitions, or morality. They exist only to prolong their stay in office and earn all that foine government swag.

EDIT: Oh yeah, and to keep THE CORPORATIONS in power. Maaan.

You honestly think that any politican has ever had a motive that can't be considered ulterior? Believe me, behind every great man there is an ego so big that it could swallow a black hole. The tit in power of our country is no exception. A man that has nothing in common with the average voter, who was born in a class full of wealth, who has never faced financial hardship. You really think that he gives a fuck about the single mum who has to bring up two children, whilst he gives the order to cut her benefits that provide her with the ability to feed her children?

Yes, clearly all politicians are devoid of humanity and never consider the implications of any of their policies.

Ofcourse they consider the implications of their policies, but I honestly believe that the vast majority of politicians, at least here in the UK, are woefully out of touch with the people. Even the Millibands were born to a wealthy millionaire, who called himself a marxist. The politics of this country is a shambles, mainly due to the attitude of the public, and the politician's belief that they can get away with whatever they want, expenses scandal being the prime example.

"Out of touch" doesn't mean a whole lot. It's a vague phrase that has no function outside of slander. They are people, and they live on the same planet we do. If you see them in action, you'll understand that. The overwhelming majority of politicians are politicians because they want to change society for the better.

Except for the corrupt ones. And I still haven't made up my mind about the current cabinet when it comes to that.

In the same vein as Kali, I don't think being 'in touch' is by an means the most important thing too look for in a politician. If they are capable of empathy, then they should be able to understand the hardships some people face.
In addition, the huge majority of people in this country are 'out of touch' from the single mum with two kids, so I don't think it's a valid argument to say Cameron cannot do his job because he is not poor.

Furthermore, you have completely made up your statement that her benefits were cut. This government has not cut any jobseekers allowance or child benefit payments.
When the current government tried to cap benefits at £25,000, which, I might add, is above the average wage, the clowns in the House of Lords and the Labour party opposed those measures.
If anything, they, and you, are out of touch with the average working citizen, who feels agrieved at paying taxes so somebody can earn more than they do, without working for it.

And in some ways, I can see how there is concern that so many of our politicians are from wealthy backgrounds. However, the answer is not to hate them for it, but to look at the pathway to prime ministership, and to remove any barriers there might be for an average person.
And if there are no barriers found, then one can only deduce the current MP's got their positions by virtue of their talents and intellect.

    @Jingles
When you say corrupt, do you mean like, actually, accepting payments for policies or something?
Do you think that's happening, really?

Corruption does not necessarily meand to do something in exchange of money. Yep, my great contribution to the debate, as always.

I know, I was just wondering what he meant by corruption.
And if you want to contribute to debates, you could always make threads about Argentina. Perhaps some people might be interested.

If the left would start arguing for fairer cuts, instead of continuing with its populist rhetoric, opposing austerity all together, then I think the general public and in fact the government would listen and take their ideas more seriously. There has to be changes to public spending as we cannot continue with our £120 billion deficit and £1 trillion debt. People aren't looking for a left wing solution or a right wing solution, people just want see our politicians working together to bring forward the best answers to our problems.

As for the issue of tax avoidance, though the government should be doing so much more to collect the £30 billion lost in tax avoidance, I commend them for their recent anti-tax avoidance legislation that was introduced in the 2012 Finance Bill.

Also, I think this is of interest......

Yes I agree, companies are far worse than Jimmy Carr will ever be.
HMRC should never accept any 'settlements'. In fact, I'm surprised such 'settlements' themselves are legal.

@Kali I can't possibly bring myself to believe that politicians are in the profession for the betterment of society, but that mainly comes down to what your view of a better society. Personally, I believe that privatising the NHS, cutting vital public services like the police, and even privatising the police to an extent is not in any way, shape or form a step toward creating a better society. In my view it is a step toward destroying the very fabric of which British society has been based on since the Labour party reforms started in 1945. It seems to be that every time that a Tory government gets into power in my country that there is an uproar at what they do. In Thatchers day, it was the sheer destruction of what was left of major British industry. Causing unemployment, and, again in my opinion, further damaging a society that was not doing well in the first place. Today it has varied from inane taxes that matter nought to the public, such as the infamous "pastie tax", to the increase in university fees that massively dis-encourages the working class youth from going to university, to NHS reforms that the workers themselves have claimed will cause calamities on a large scale. Aside from the first, these other two issues will almost definitely be detrimental to society.

@UtterlyImpeccable It might not be a valid argument, in all fairness, to say that he can't do his job because he has never been poor, but it is certainly a valid argument that he can't possibly be trusted to represent working classes, whilst he can most certainly be depended upon to represent the upper classes. Also, as I mentioned to Kali, this nation has been built upon national unity. If you were, through some unfortunate fluke, dependent upon the benefits system then would you, or would you not support the system as it is? It is not justified to say that the average worker would not be happy to pay for someone who genuinely needs benefits, because chances are they will not have been, nor will they ever be in a position that requires such support. Also, surely you can't disagree that with the economy being in the situation as it is right now, it is entirely necessary for benefits to be kept as they are, with the cost of living constantly rising. And I refuse the believe that idiots like William Hague and Michael Gove are in their positions due to their intellect.
