Actually in the Cold War(you know a competetion bewtween the US and USSR over influence in the world) it kind was necessary because Russia was doing the same thing.

You seriously think the USSR just wanted to coexist with another capitalist superpower? No that's retarded. After WWII you had two superpowers each with ideologies that directly apposed the other. It was inevitable that friction would come between these two nations. The Cold War did not start because the US was being mean to Russia(where the hell are you even getting that from?), The Cold War started when Russia and The Allies had different ideas on what to do with all those countries that were liberated from Germany(along with other disagreements), and progressed from there into a competition for power and influence between the US and it's allies and Russia and it's allies. Had nothing to do with us saying " hey guys let's piss of the ruskies", something childish like that is not what the Cold War was about and it's not what started it.

Well according to the USSR side of the story they went into help to Socialist Afghans, however you can look at it from an imperialist standpoint. In which the USSR invade to gain economic control over Afghanistan.

Well, here's the thing, the Cold War was both sides fault. Merica said, "fuck you reds". USSR said, "fuck you fatcats". And then everything they did was pretty much to counter each other with little thought of the effect it may eventually have.

As for Assange and his files, Assange in my opinion should not have done that and he deserves to be punished, although thats not why the British were trying to get extradition. Hes accused of two counts of sexual assualt I believe. Of course, I'm sure its being taken into account that he leaked a whole hell of a lot of government files.
