Hello everybody. I'm creating this post to see if anyone on the forums is planing on playing Planetside 2 when it is released. For those who don't know what Planetside 2 is HERE is a like to the games site. For those who just want an explanation of what Planetside 2 to is here goes a "quick" explanation. Planetside 2 is a MMOFPS currently in alpha with the beta supposedly opening very soon according to the devs (my prediction: either the beta will start sometime in July or mid to late August). Planetside 2 is more or less the reincarnation of the original Planetside game but bigger and hopefully better the ever. The game is set to have a similar F2P model as League of Legends were you can play for free or spend money to buy aesthetics (camo, different weapon and vehicle attachments, etc...). The 3 empires in the game are: 1) The Terran Republic / TR (nicknamed the elmos for their red armor) -With a militaristic government, the Terran Republic uses its Imperial authoritarian might to impel humanity to peaceful coexistence through any means necessary. (Loyalist, patriotic heros) 2) The Vanu Sovereignty / VS (nicknamed barneys for their purple and teal armor) -A technocratic faction that believes humanity can only evolve by rediscovering and tapping the lost technology of the Vanu. (Xeno loving scum) 3) The New Conglomerate / NC (nicknamed smurfs for their blue armor) -A loosely connected group of rebel factions and idealistic freedom fighters, the New Conglomerate fights against the hegemony of the Terran. (Traitor rebel scum) Size: Planetside 2 is set to have severs that support up to 6000 players divided amongst the 3 playable empires and divided between the 3 continents that make up the planet of Auraxis in which the game takes place. The games has no true ending as the worst case scenario is your empire is forced back to the warp gates that connect the 3 continents and are sieged until they can either break out or the ennemie forces retreat to stop an advance by the 3rd faction. Out of the 3 continents only one has been confirmed, Indar, a desert map with canyons and some forest along the south borders of the continent. The other 2 continents have been hinted has one of them being a frozen tundra with open field of ice and snow, while the last continent is suppose to resemble the Scottish highlands to an extent with lots of hills with swamp land and rivers scattered about. It has been confirmed each continent is suppose to be about 64 square kilometers with strategic bases, outposts and towers scattered across them. The game will have both air and ground combat with all empires being able to field hundreds if not thousands of fighters, ground support aircraft and drop-ships as well as hundreds of light and heavy tanks and ground support vehicles.
Maybe he's just excited for this game. I know I am really excited for Planetside 2 aswell, so I don't blame him.
