Yes fuck what a majority of Americans want, let's let these nine Washington guys decide for us. Do you even hear yourself? You should really look at this thing called a poll sometime. It might just tell you what people actually want & why these nine judges(technically 5 as Imperial pointed out) are out of touch.

Out of touch? What the majority of people want is irrelevant to how constitutional something is. We're a Republic, not a Democracy. Get your facts straight.

I wasn't referring to if it was constitutional or not.

"Yes fuck what a majority of Americans want, let's let these nine Washington guys decide for us."

Seems to be saying that you think what the majority of people want outweighs what the supreme court says. Again:

    We're a Republic, not a Democracy.

People are easily influenced, and don't always know what is good for them. Not that I support obamacare or anything, it's a heap of shit which will just generate more profits for the rich. But the system of democracy we follow right now is schizophrenic, and dysfunctional.

In short: Everybody is stupid. Some people are stupider than others.

The point of the Supreme Court is to interpret the Constitution and use this interpreatation to decide which laws are constitutional and unconstitutional. It doesn't matter what most Americans want, this is the decision of people who have been given the responsibility to decide what is right and what is wrong.

I love it when Republicans call some form of universal health care "socialism" or "communism." As someone who now lives in a post-communist country, and has almost daily conversations about what communism was like with people who actually lived in it, I can state clearly: health care does NOT equal totalitarianism. Nada. Nope. Zilch.

I'm really sorry to say this, but there's too many completely clueless people out there.

We have a problem with the mandate part, or most of us do. We do have a few crazies who think its Communist(Bachmann).

Oh no! Heaven forbid people have to buy healthcare! Just compare it to having to buy car insurance. Nobody thinks they"ll ever need it, until they get into an accident and have to pay for all the damage themselves.

The mandate was deemed unconstitutional under the commerce clause of the Constitution, the restriction of the federal government regulating intrastate trade, but since it was listed as a tax, it falls under the power of Congress to levy taxes. So it would be unconstitutional if implemented differently, using different powers.
