I am wandering what the forum thinks about the Falklands and who should own it. To think a small peace of land would be this much fused over. So who does the Falklands belong to, the United Kingdom or Argentina? I believe the UK are the rightful owners, being it has been a colony of there nation before Argentina was even a country.

They should split it so the U.K gets the islands for six months and Argentina gets it for six months. But it seems like its one of the few thing uniting the people of Argentina.

That would be a mess. I always thought that the Falklands was the most unimportant thing ever. Fighting a war over it is even more stupid.

The Falklands belong to the people living there. they decide what should happen to them. Not Argentina and not the UK.

Why do you have to do this? You've been creating a lot of strange threads lately, Fatkid, and I don't think the Argentinians, Brazilians and Brits of the forum have felt too good about that recently.

The Falklands is constantly on my mind since about 99% in my extended family can't stop talking about it. You must understand I am almost half British, and I want to hear some non biased opinions.
If people find the thread aggressive, rude or whatever they don't have to participate simple as that. I won't hold it to them.

It should belong to Argentina. The country that existed before Argentina, the United Provinces of the River Plata, was the first to claim the islands in the 1820´s and created the first settlements there.

A referendum would not solve the problem, since the population of the islands is less then 5000 and they are mostly of British descent, which would give an injust victory for the British side.

How is a referendum unjust? The people who live there want to live as British citizens, not Argentinean citizens.

1764 The French founded the first Settlements there in the east and the english followed suit on the west in 1766.
Later the spansish took over the french parts.

Lol unjust victory! Because it would totaly be just if you ignore democratic majoryties in favor of the descendents of spanish settlers that are not even present on the island. Makes fucking sence.....

It's obvious that the Argentinian government should force a mass immigration to the islands and win the vote that way. All of those sheep and rocks on the Falklands are really important.
