Why would you want to fight in the open field? Athens would have 5000 + more men then you would.

    1. Yea, I saw his answer. Made me laugh.
    2. You sent 1500 spartans to help? I'm sure @General Mosh would've had most of them die of Attrition, if he had seen it. I'm sure he'd be reasonable.
    3. You have really good relations? You have a military alliance that can drag you into wars because you have good relations? What kind of bullshit is that?
    4. WHY WOULD SPARTA CARE WHAT DANZIG THINKS ABOUT THEM?!

With chances for victory closing, Aeric plans a brave strategy, assaulting the Aldabertian troops at village of Olinia, a stronghold of weapons and food. Aeric stormed the camp, seizing hundreds of swords and spears to outfit the newly recruited peasants. Aeric isn't capable of basking in the glory of victory any longer, as an Aldabertian scout catches wind of the raid, and triggers the march of a 17,500 man army led by Aldabert himself. Aeric and his band of raiders marched back to their camp, where they rallied their army of 15,000. Outnumbered, outmatched and hungry, Aeric felt that the war would be decided by the end of the year.

The number advantage of Athens is like 4,000 guys. I WANT to settle this on the field. We have cav, elephants, and better quality troops. They don't. Instead I have to attack fortress by fortress with my siege equipment.

    1. They have cavalry too. And cavalry is pretty useless against a Phalanx.
    2. 4,000 troops can be enough to smash a flank
    3. Elephants will not only be as much of a weapon against your own troops as theres, but have a soft underbelly, and a single pike underneath them will send them down.
    4. Why do you think you have better quality troops? What gave you that Idea?

I'd need solid numbers and understanding of the training your guys have to determine.

Though basically, Sky brings up a good argument.

    @scottap25

Man, you should give this guy a shot. I mean it's been like 3 months in game time or something. At least put him in a fort somewhere for a bit man.

Anyway, I actually think Sparta could still win against the Athens in a face to face, open field fight because of the war elephants and the fact that the Spartans are better trained and equipped. Really what Athens needs is some reinforcements from Tyre or the Levantine Kingdoms to break the sieges and then outnumber the Spartans enough to beat them face to face for sure.

The Levantine Kingdom realizes that Sparta is a force that could potentially unbalance the situation in the eastern/central Mediterranean.

There are currently 10,000 Levantine troops on Cyprus, who have been training for the last few months. The small naval base has turned even larger, acting as a major trading destination for those going to the Kingdom, or Tyre. The navy has been expanded by 5 ships, while 5,000 more men have been shipped to Cyprus, making the total force there 15,000.

Weapons recently made in the homeland have been shipped, as well as new training supplies. The men practice Landing attacks and combat every day, with this new equipment.

The sight of Cyprus is on Rhodes.

The battle was quick. Every single Aeric-loyal soldier was slaughtered, and the deserters from the battlefield hunted down and stabbed in their backs. Despite this grand victory, Aldabert was unsettled. Only 3000 soldiers of Aeric marched to meet him in the battlefield. He had remembered reports of a near 20000 man army marching near the coast. The night was dark, all guards asleep or drunk from their success. Suddenly the alarms sounded, there was a fire in the barracks. Now there were missing soldiers at their posts, and then discoveries of bodies at the edges of camp. The camp was under attack by Aeric. By morning, Aeric was gone, and a good quarter of the troops at camp were dead or incapable of fighting. The Aldabert war machine was stopped, and Aeric and his army disappeared into the vast forests in the countryside.
