"I do not know what the third world war will be fought with, but the fourth world war will be fought with sticks and stones." - Albert Einstein
Not quite. SPOILER ALERT!!!!(well not quite all these events happened before the start of the book) It wasn't really a nuclear war. It was a string of nuclear terrorist attacks across Europe which causes a genocide against Muslims in Europe, then Iran nukes Israel off the map on the same day nuclear bombs go off on the Vegas Strip and in Los Angeles, which causes Christian extremists to be elected to power in the US and declare a holy war to reclaim the holy land. The book starts there, and both sides are using modern tanks and stuff.

i just got a book about Joachim Rønneberg one of the heavy water saboteurs, signed by Joachim Rønneberg
Good choice. Reading his new one at the moment. More of a collection of cool anecdotes than an actual history of world war 2, but it's pretty good so far.
I am reading: I've also noticed, quite a few people into Warhammer novels here - For someone who wants to get started, which book should I start with from the Warhammer series?
^ I would recommend some basic knowledge from the Wiki, so you don't find yourself scratching you're head on every page. Some books will tell you what everything is in great detail or some stuff in great detail, others will just assume that you know. After that, try books that focus on the Tanith First and Only, Ultramarines, or Blood Ravens.
Hero of the Imperium. You have to buy it now! And any Chaos Space Marine books you can put your hands on.
I'm reading Traitor to his Class by H.W. Brands. I've only read the prologue so far but it sure looks promising.
