    A lot of the time they just end up getting off-topic and because the off-topicness isn't important the entire thread dies.

    Double posting serves a valuable purpose. It allows you to bump the thread, whereas if you edit, it will not. If you have information relevant to the topic, and it's been a while since your previous post, double posting is very good.

    Copy your previous post and delete it. As your post has not been responded to, there is still a way to delete it.

    Create a new post with the previous post pasted onto it.

    You get the same result as before, merey with a Bump.

    Multi-accounting is frowned apon as it can be seen as an attempt to get around the rules, cheat on polls etc.

    Anyway I have reduced the amount of time for the "Bump" option to be used on posts from 10 days to 1 in order to discourage double posting.
