Impeachment

Before you guys get a bunch of shit in your storm, I'm not calling to impeach our current tribunes, but I am calling for us to have the means to potentially do so. The current system can easily be abused. Just tell the user base a bunch of shit that they want to hear, and then you're in, and while you're in, you're untouchable. I think it should be possible, albeit difficult, to impeach a tribune. What are your thoughts on this?

Seems to be a recurring theme amongst mods.

The tribunes are supposed to represent us and counterbalance the mods, but if they no longer act in the people's interests, then this system breaks down, and we have no control.

We do need this

they are your elected representatives to us they represent you if you a problem with something message them about it.

They could theoretically completely ignore us and do their own shit. They wouldn't get elected again, but they could pass some legislature before that happens.

Tribunes have short terms and with the glorious leader watching over us and said representatives anything controversial would likely be dealt with in short measure. I think that we should have more faith in our representatives against the oligarchic mods.

There should be an impeachment system. The impeachment could even be vetoed by Stalin if he wanted to.

Stalin shouldn't be able to decide who the tribunes are. He already appointed 8 mods.

Honestly Link, honestly? - Stalin could easily remove a Tribune if they abused power... so why would we need this, when the people voted for said Tribune and have confidence in him/her.

And Stalin already runs the site and appointed 8 mods who can outvote the tribunes on every single issue, so he shouldn't decide on tribunes as well.....that's stupid Jay.

If we do institute a impeachment system, it better be hard to impeach someone. Because I have this funny feeling that since 1/2 the people this forums bust a nut over every little rule change, that we might have some tribunes that barely get to pass anything before getting impeached.

If the term lengths were long I would agree with you but it seems unnecessary for the time being.

Real stupid, I mean what was I thinking, Stalin having authority on his own site, how stupid of me... and I am 100% sure that the mods and Stalin have thought of what to do if a Tribune abuses power, so why do we need this... we don't.

The mods don't give a fuck if the tribunes abuse power, and Stalin doesn't know if they're abusing power. Abusing power would be going against our wishes, so we should handle it independently. Or you can keep relying on Stalin to make every decision for you like he's some kind of fucking god.

Your over thinking this. People would abuse this system like no tomorrow. If it was a simple system for impeachment people would impeach tribunes over the smallest things.

I agree. As I said before, it shouldn't be easy, but it should be possible. Perhaps we could have an appeal system, and if enough people asked for it in span of time, we could have a vote on it, and if 2/3 or more voted on impeachment, they would be removed.

The mods don't care, right? - I am sure they do, and I agree with Matt that if there were impeachment, I guarantee that no Tribune would stay in their position for very long with the likes of you, and others... who go fucking apeshit whenever there's a tiny incident.
