I believe Pokémon Black and White are coming out soon and I just wanted the opinion of my forum mates. Is Pokémon a dead franchise or is it still fun to play? I remember when I was a kid that I would play and replay the original games over and over and it rarely got old. is the series still good, in your opinion, or should it quietly fade away?

I think the series are still great. People say the games got worse after every generation but honestly I think they've just gone better and better.

I got Pokemon gold on my Gameboy Colour when I was really little, can't remember how old I was, and I played that game over and over for years.
Even when the new generations came I wouldn't get them because I didn't have a gameboy advance and I honestly didn't care.
About a half year back I got curious though and bought a DS and tried Pokemon Platinum, and man it's just awesome!

I have Pokemon Red, Blue, Gold and Silver, 2 of which have dead internal batteries (poor Silver...we had a complete Pokedex there =[), and I've had so much fun with them. The rest I've only played on emulators as I don't have any other consoles but my GameBoy Color, but I'm sometimes playing on Pokemon Online, which is an online battle simulator for competitive battling.

I actually kinda like that one. But really, there are some designs in each generation I don't like, and some I do.

Agreed, up until Black and White, G/S/C (And Hg/Ss for good measure) have been my favourite games by far. The extensive postgame really did it for me. Oh, and the lack of massive and annoying sea routes as well. Black and White seem to have completely ditched those (hurray!)

My older brother used to have Yellow untill he lost that and his Gameboy Colour on a flight to greece like 7 years back. I only really started out with the second generation; Gold.

    Everyone loves pokemon!
Beating the league is like a gamer right to manhood.
I think I'm the only one here with that had an extreme attachment to the third gen games, played the hell out of emerald. I've put so many hours into that game, it's sort of an obligation to keep the ol' team up to date and defending my title as the toughest trainer in class.

But the cheap side of me wants to wait for the crystal-esque updated version to come out.

I love Firered/Leafgreen, just so the original game (more or less) is revamped in colour! yay! That and its the only generation of Pokemon I know and can make a decent team from.

I think for most people theres only one generation they like, probably the first they played.

I believe that non of the older guys are available right off the bat in the new games, try and beat the league and you should see a couple of them.

Only new generation pokemon are available from the beginning. You can obtain older ones after you complete the pokedex I believe.

Actually, you can catch older generation Pokemon as soon as you defeat the Elite Four. Nintendo tends to troll, but this time, they were pretty mild.
