I'm going to buy the two DLC for this game on Thursday. I hear the new "bulletproof matchlock samurai" are so OP they turn every game into a slaughterhouse.

    ...
Not even Empire, a game with the whole WORLD had bulletproofing.
Now I am supposed to believe the Japanese invented Kevlar in the mid 15th (?) century?
    I call bullshit.

So I just finished watching a few videos with the new DLC (not the ikko ikki one, the one with 10 new units).

Check this out: Bulletproof samurai have pikes instead of swords - so they are basically a godly phalanx unit. Second, the only units that can penetrate their armor are a) bow units and b) the new hand "cannon samurai" with the "armor penetrating bullets" trait. Also, these hand cannon samurai units can completely destroy a unit of great guard in ONE volley with their armor penetrating bullets. I was amazed when I saw it.

So yea, feudal Japan apparently had Kevlar armor and Kevlar piercing ammunition. Shame they were cut off from the rest of the world until the 19th century - otherwise we would be a few hundred years ahead in terms of technology.

Which causes one more question to be asked, how the hell did we win WW2?
If they were bulletproof, then why did they not use their great technology.
Have any of you heard the story about how the Imperial Japanese researchers were ahead on Nuclear Technology, but ditched nukes for a death ray based off the microwave?
Hit me up with that sign, Bob.

Well they changed Shogun from rock paper scissors to rock paper scissors and super duper overpowerd unrealistic units that can pown anybody. Great job CA, really appreciate it

After playing around it seems that the hand gunners massive weakness to bow troops, which outrange them coupled with their small unit size should make them easy enough to neuter. I certainly had no problems defeating the hard AI that I was using to test them. Still to play human players though... :D

Well if you have the new DLC, the heavy gunners will murder everything. They have guns that can shoot through the enemy soldier on to the next couple ranks. It is pretty overpowered. I am thinking about keeping all the new DLC units out of the tournamennt as to make it more fair

Please do, but then keeping them in doesn't seem too unfair. So, where do I join?

Right, so at the risk of sounding very stupid, what do I do? Add the Steam group?
