Well as most of you know I've been working with the applicants for the field marshal position of both the Napoleon and SHOGUN 2 branches and, needless to say, we have run into a few snags.

The major issue was that the moderators on TWC, in their infinite wisdom, have decided to no longer allow the NKVD to advertise on their site because apparently we support genocide and tyrannical dictators and this has upset a well respected forum nerd. Due to this our recruitment efforts have been slashed and we'll have to resort to more tedious, but equally effective means of recruiting for this branch. I tried to assuage the situation diplomatically but to no avail.

So I call on you to do the following: whenever you play a game of Napoleon or Shogun against or with someone who is not in a clan, please add him to your friends list and politely ask if he wants to join ours. The result of this is either a) he says no; or, b) he joins the clan, you make a friend and everyone is better off for it. I will personally be playing SHOGUN 2 in my spare free time to help with this effort.

Last, over the past few weeks I have been working with Slydessertfox to revitalize the branch. Despite his efforts, he has been but leading the charge into the ground for this branch. For his stalwart dedication in the face of failure I am appointing him Field Marshal of the Total War branch. Said branch now consists of all total war games, as some of you have suggested, which will most likely help to better organize us.

    Thanks for reading.

Yes. I took time out of my day to carefully and politely inform everyone that this website does endorse the historical Joseph Stalin or any of his less than human actions as a dictator... But let me tell you what happened if you're still interested. After I made that all perfectly clear, someone said "Well sure you say that, but your name implies the opposite. So why should we believe you?" It was a less intelligent statement than the one I quoted but that sums it up pretty well. Shortly after that statement a shitstorm erupted (of which no member in the NKVD took part of, it was all their forum goers). Then a mod came and deleted every post in the thread.

And people complain about the way we moderate things.... That's a shame though, I'll assume you've tried pm'ing the mods or admins?

No, how could we, despite Spencer calling himself Josef Stalin?

This was kind of expected from TWC, I have heard a few things about them that would make them otherwise a shitty community, so I would recommend not seeking to recruit anyone from there in the first place.

I've been talking with the Marshals and we mostly agree that wide spread advertising on forums is a step in the wrong direction. While on the other hand recruiting from within a game itself is the correct direction. This is mainly due to the fact that we would be able to mitigate the flow of members as well as be able to gauge a prospective member's skill and personality from the 1 on 1 style of recruiting.

But of course if you disagree feel free to advertise on whichever forums you like. So long as you use discretion and keep the clan's best interest in mind.

Just dont even post here..... this isnt relevant to the topic and is basically mindless spam for the sake of attention.

    On Topic.
If we try and advertise on forums its going to have the opposite effect. The most that will come of it is we will be ignored and treated like spammers. This is one problem I think we would be able to solve if we got dedicated servers. That way instead of having to hunt down prospective recruits they would end up coming to us. We would also be viewed in a much more positive light than trying to mass recruit on forums. Take TF2 for example. Before I joined NKVD I jumped on a dedicated server ran by Rare Breed Gaming. The friendly atmosphere and welcoming clan members and average gamers alike hit me immediantly. I was also very impressed by the ping I was getting. I almost joined on the spot, so imagine how much of an impression we could make if we got some dedicated servers up for a few games like Battlefield and TF2. I think we would be able to achieve not only a steady amount of recruits but an easily reached server for tournements and games for our clan.

Getting dedicated Servers is Complicated... It means we either Pay someone to do it. Or One of the Forum-goers Starts one from their Internet Connection. I know how to start a Server but I can't use my internet.
