    And I agree, except not as the US, but as Mexico or Brazil.... or The Kingdom of Hawaii.
    Or actually The Ottomans maybe, or... a Boer State!!! That would be fun. Except he would be next to the British again. So maybe as France, or an Italian state. Or possibly as Persia. But he should definitely go outside the box. Pick a less obvious country.
