IC: josefvstalin.com/threads/cold-war-rp-the-rp-thread.8303 So, in my history class we started reading up on the cold war, and i thought i'd start up an RP set in the Cold War. This'll start in about the mid-60's, prolly around the start of 'Nam and go until we decide to end it. Choose any nation you like, but i will list the NATO and Warsaw Pact Nations, as well as the other communists, etc. However, i have some rules: A) No godmodding B) No World War III as soon as the RP begins C) No shooting nukes at the start D) Be serious, and Roleplay. E) Be historically accurate, for the most part (if you want to RP a capitalist/communist movement in a Non-Superpower country, that's fine, if you want to do it in another person's country get their permission first. Fictional Leaders/movements are fine but be accurate with the RL country's political situation.) F) pertaining to previous rules, just use common RP logic and sense. G) Have fun! How this works: You basically roleplay the leader of your nation, i.e. in a way like a book (if you've ever played Nationstates, it's like that, i'll even bring up an example) Example: Walter Ulbricht spoke to the NVA. "Soldiers of Ostdeutschland! Today we march for West Berlin! Today we shall take Western Germany for the glory of the Warsaw pact! Long live Communism! Lange Lebe der DDR!" Walter threw his fist in the air, and the NVA soldiers cheered. Something like that, like i said, in a fashion like a book For messages between leaders the best example would be along these lines: OFFICIAL COMMUNIQUE OF THE DDR From: Chairman of the Council of State Walter Ulbricht of the DDR To: Nikita Khrushchev of the USSR Today the glorious troops of the Red army and Nationale Volksarmee will storm across Europe and crush the enemies of Communism! -Walter Ulbricht Nations So far Warsaw Pact and Allies: DDR/East Germany = GeorgykZhukov Cuba = Tyum2 USSR = Kali SAR Movement = Anwrise888 Hungary = ddbb089 North Vietnam = C_G NATO and Allies: USA = Romulus211 France = Vassilli1942 United Kingdom = darthdj31 Other Noncommunists: Free Canada (Movement) = Shisno Iran = Melanthropist Kashmiri Nationalist Brotherhood = Chives India = Epiccheesegrater Libya = Karakoran Sweden = Onyxja Palestine = ComradeLer The Glorious Kingdom of the Netherlands = DutchSocialist Other Communists: People's Republic of China = Viking Socrates No special rules, just RP your leader, and his decisions. I would also do a bit of Research on the country you are picking in the year 1965. If anything is unclear in this OP i will add things/change things.
thought i'd get that, alright i'll add this to the OP: You basically roleplay the leader of your nation, i.e. in a way like a book (if you've ever played Nationstates, it's like that, i'll even bring up an example) Example: Walter Ulbricht spoke to the NVA. "Soldiers of Ostdeutschland! Today we march for West Berlin! Today we shall take Western Germany for the glory of the Warsaw pact! Long live Communism! Lange Lebe der DDR!" Walter threw his fist in the air, and the NVA soldiers cheered. Something like that, like i said, in a fashion like a book
I still don't quite understand it. So, let me ask some questions: 1) Do we play as leaders of countries? 2) Do we choose what country we want? 3) Is there a global market of sorts? 4) Is it just us saying actions and those actions...happening?
1) yes, or leaders of movements (Viet Cong, Che Guevara, Mujahideen, etc), you can also RP the actions of Generals/Armies in your nation (just remember to still RP your leader). Basically like a book. 2) yes 3)I never planned on having one, but if people want it, why not? 4) It's a bit like a book, so i'd say yes
You know what? I'll fudge the historical accuracy thing a bit: you can make a fictional leader of the RL country, or a fictional movement in a RL country, as long as you accurately portray the political situation (if that makes sense)
Alright, I have made a decision to form a...not so real life movement called the Sons of Marxism located in Greece, advocating to join the Warsaw Pact and becoming a communist state. The leader of this movement as you might have guessed is Vermin Supreme. Is that OK with you @GeorgykZhukov
As long as the movement doesn't get too silly, and retains the marxism a bit, yeah, it's fine. you might even get some funding from zhe DDR, ja? *wink* win*
that is why it says other noncommunists and communists. you can choose any region of the world you want, or form, say a Kashmir independence movement. Got it!
Yeah..... Screw it, change me to some sort of anarchist group hiding out in Canada, with the intention of toppling the Canadian government.
Well, you have to describe it first, what it's side and ideology are, etc, and name it before i put it up there XD
