I would actully argue that apocalypse now isn't even a nam movie because it has fuck all to do with the vietnam war
What? A american officer has to bring in an AWOL colonel during the Vietnam war during which he loses fellow comrades and see's the Horror of the war through his own eyes Meeting several characters while the war is going on around him. You know what your right it has fuck all to do with the vietnam war. How does it have Fuck all to do with the actual war please explain?
It's set in the Vietnam War. It is a rendition of a famous anti-colonialist book, and since America (huge imperialist nation) was in a war in Vietnam some bright spark went and made a film based on the book but set in the Vietnam War
Apocalypse now is more about what war does to the human psyche then about Vietnam in particular. The first part of fmj was awesome, but the actual was part was kind of lame.
So was Full Metal Jacket. It's about the dehumanization of war, transforming Men into killing machines.
