Britain also had its hands full fighting other countries elswhere in the world, (France being one of them), so they couldnt put aside enough troops to stop the rebellions.

Edit: The Treaty of Versailles. The Treaty was too harsh on the Germans and that allowed Hitler to come to power because people started to listen to anyone with a solution, so basically this was a treaty to end a war but ended up starting another war where millions more people died.

    MEGA FAIL

how Mao zedong in China tried to industralies the country by ordering the farmers to melt their metals and other things. this lead to useless metall and the bigest famine in the world (30.000.000 lifes). since the farmers couldn't take care of their land.

also the baltic canal that was built in soviet Russia by stalin. costing 100.000 lifes and ended up being a waste of time. because when it was finnished, the ships couldn't go trough it because it was to shallow.

the battle of Gallipoli. The Allied forces of WWI attempted to attack the Ottomans at the Dardanelles. The allied troops had lead rained down upon them from the tops of cliffs on both sides. This battle also created nationalist movements in Australia and New Zealand (they didn't like their men being slaughtered).

    oh and "IT'S A SLAUGHTERHOUSE!!!!!!"

I have to say the biggest flops is the middle ages in the West, total utter waste of time... seriously what did we actually accomplish in the middle ages apart from a couple of wars and reformation.

Military wise i would have to say the Spanish Armada campaign.

One of them up there would be America's attempted coup on Chavez. Just goes to show that Venezuela loves Socialism.

the reason that the first world war started

it was some terrorists killing a duke that trigged a investigation that resulted in military action and alliances drawing all of Europe in to it. this than lead to on of the worst tragedy s in all of history THE TREATY OF VERSAILLES. this directly lead to world war 2
these wars lead to- cold war, nuclear arms race, Korea, Vietnam, the list goes on and on

It wasn't that bad. Although the Western world would've been better off if the Roman Empire never fell and the Middle Ages would be more like the Renaissance all along, the Middle Ages were far from a complete waste of time if you ask me.
