Fucking with genes in a really big no-no. Erradicating natural selection, hell naw dawg.
It's amazing how you can be white and black in the same post.
It's my way of trying to eradicate racial prejudices.
Is this not a humanist ideal? Making like humans that live forever or just turning them into robot like creatures that dont eat or sleep there just perfectly in tune with nature? But anyways I dont think I'd like being perfect everything would seem wrong and boring.
Hmm...not a bad idea indeed...
You are incompatible. You will be deleted.
Even if it seems annoying at times, we kinda need stupid people, you know for the army and such.
So no i'm kinda against all this, i mean it would lead to extreme depression if everyone was capable of calculus, i mean figure being a mastermind garbage collector, that would suck.
And by the time we don't need those kinds of people, they will soon die off because of natural selection and the strongest will stay for the military etc. and the smartest will rule!
Technocracies ftw, we don't need genetics we just need Social-Darwinism
Wow, really? Are you really going to say that stupid people are such a large portion of the military that they are necessary for it to function?
Ya, and for all the wrong reasons.
Well it could because smart people are disproportionately cynical to stupid people, but for the most part it would improve the happiness factor because the quality of life would improve.
Odds are most all tasks like that would be operated by machines by the time we've reached this stage of technological prowess.
We don't need them. In fact we've never needed them.
In case you haven't noticed, Steven Hawking and Richard Dawkins haven't exactly been ensuring the spread of their genes.
The military will likely move to robotics soon enough, so no.
Not likely either.
I think we've had this discussion before, technocracies are silly.
You really weren't all that crazy, just your views are completely wrong.
OH NOS ;(
Now, I'm not a fan of a sentence like this, but especially coming from you, it's downright absurd.
I think this would work, just maybe not so... evil? What if we were to use genetic engineering and all that science crap to remove abnormalities and disadvantages to people. If it is possible to predict whether a fetus or embryo will be born with cystic fibrosis for example, then we try to help it. We just don't touch the slippery slope of improving people, just try to balance it out. This will also stop the inevitability of rich people buying a better body at the expense of t... you know where that leads to. Oh, and as for stamping out religious nuts, I'm all for that whatever the reasoning.
So we've never needed stupid people? Thats the most absurd thing i've ever heard, maybe in the future with robotics and such we won't need them anymore, but we certainly have needed them in the past, and sadly yes most military grunts don't have too much intelligence if they do appear to be intelligent they soon go and get officer training and are no longer the military grunt force, of wich i was speaking. Maybe you're right and then even these people will serve no purpose, because all jobs are being done by robots and such, all the jobs that are left are the jobs of ruling and administrating these procceses, meaning that stupid people won't have a job and will slowly starve, according to the capitalist system, therefore there will be no stupid people.
Also maybe it does go the way of idiocracy because smart people aren't reproducing at the same rate, time will tell, and i hope i am more right than you. (atleast about the stupid people won't take over everything)
Do you really think social progress is helped by the unintelligent?
This is laughable, coming from you.
Do you really think it'd be impossible for someone intelligent to do a stupid man's tasks? The fact of the matter is they are a weight on society.
A lack of intelligence is not vital to a society.
That's complete horse shit. Yes, the cream of the crop tend to move on to officer training, but that doesn't mean it leaves complete retards to fight as the grunts. For the most part they're incredibly intelligent, even more so than some of us.
MAYBE I'm right?
For the most part automated machines can do many of the things necessary to a society. For instance, it's not impossible to make an automatic bus line or something to that degree. However the process is much more expensive than getting some guy to operate the bus personally.
Not really. We'll always need creators in society, something a machine can't do.
That's the stupidest thing ever.
IQ rates are rising in the modern world. So no, it's not.
Ya, or we can just look at the present data.
I never said that.
You are not worthy of even being called a nazi.
Have you ever read Guillivers Travels?
Maybe it is not helped but just think about doing manual labour in a factory line for your entire life... With the capacity we have (assuming people here have reasonable IQ's).
It would lead to civil war every five years, inteligent people go insane working these jobs.
So all i'm saying and you're missing the point here you self-righteous moron, is that life for us is better with stupid people because now we are the top 5-percentile, and get the most interesting, fun and well-payed jobs, i'm definetly not saying this is all there is to life, but your job is pretty much a third of your day.
Sure society might be able to progress faster if it wasn't for the sadly stupid people, but frankly we would have to wait till the working class jobs are roboticized, before it would be real progress in my oppinion.
Btw you obviously do not know how IQ rates work...
Then again i just noticed, you live in the US, where sadly people are less educated so to speak, so i can understand that stupid people seem disproportionally stupid to you
Sounds easy as piss.
Idk man, pulling them levers. Basically a death sentence.
Of course, you have the ability to do whatever you want outside of that time. Maybe do some writing, work on some artwork? Whatever.
That's completely ridiculous. The only piece of political thought I have ever seen near this was a few lines from Brave New World where they talk about the Cyprus Experiment. That was total bullshit, I hope you realize.
I'm not a self-righteous moron, you're a twat who doesn't realize that what he's saying is nonsense.
No it's better because of technical progress which is forwarded by the intelligent. More intelligent people = more technical progress. It's quite simple really.
Oh ya, quantum mechanics. Bundles of fun.
Actually it's incredibly boring for the most part.
Are you bitching because a third of your day wouldn't be quite so amazing as it might otherwise be? And that's incredibly selfish. The sheer amount of human progress that would be generated could save millions of lives, we could end famine and plague and maybe even most warfare.
The fuck are you talking about? This hardly even makes any sense.
You dumbass, I mean relatively speaking to how they used to be. Anyone with half a brain could see that.
If everyone in the Netherlands was as stupid as you I'd begin an evacuation. Maybe there was one and the nation has just been completely overrun with ignorance? That'd explain all your nonsensical policies.
I don't even see how this is relevant to the discussion. It seems more like a jab at America. In fact I don't even see how the proportion of stupid people to intelligent people even matters to the discussion.
Let's agree to disagree, and maybe you should get a job at a factory, it seems like you'd like it for some weird ass reason xD.
I don't know why exactly, but yeah you totally should.
I agree with Mobmaster.
Kara, it seems you have not taken my advice. In Guillivers Travels there is a civilisation, all of whom are incredibly intelligent, but none of whom want to work. I can't remember much of it, but the general message was that a society of geniuses would be useless.
Personally, I doubt I could ever work in a factory, and I would be surprised if you think you could do a repetitive job for 5 days a week for 40 years.
Most educated people (rightly or wrongly) would think a menial job below them, and would quickly become frustrated and angry with their jobs.
In addition, you have shown complete ignorance of what working in a factory is like. It is not 'easy as piss', many of the jobs are hard, manual labour, and the hours worked would leave little time for writing and other such pursuits, especially after a days hard work would leave you mentally and physically tired.
Saying any educated person could do a hard days work at a factory is as riduculous as saying a plumber could work at the Large Hadron Collider.
And you mine, as I said that pretty much every example saying that a society comprised solely of intelligent people would be lazy or inefficient is a total work of fiction.
Also, for the most part intelligent people tend to be just as hard working as stupid people. There's no reason to even assume such a thing. It's fiction.
It's a complete work of fiction. I could write a book saying that if everyone was stupid there'd be mass genocide of frogs and I'd have just as much evidence supporting it.
Also, this is a book where a man attacks windmills because he thinks they're giants. I really can't take it seriously.
And the message is wrong.
You'd get used to it.
I really don't see how you assume this is an impossible task.
Again, if the bottom half of society's intelligence suddenly disappeared all it would mean is a shift in leveling. The old average is the new stupid. Social preferences would adapt within a generation or so.
Then they can fuck off.
You cited a book where a guy attacks windmills with his sword.
Screw you too.
I can hardly believe I'm arguing with you over what a "factory job" is classified as.
Sure, whatever. It's still not that hard to move things. It's not like people will curl up in the fetal position every time they go to work.
It's an 8 hour work day max.
In which case you'll have no wish to do anything. You're physically and mentally satisfied.
See how easy that was?
They're nothing alike. I don't even know how you managed to think this relation made sense.[/quote]
That's a really stupid way to end a debate.
I think you missed the point of your own argument. Maybe you even missed your own side of it.
"XD GOOD ONE BRO" - Toast
This last line was unnecessary.
Just saying it sucks, fuck even a supermarket job is too fucking dull. But if you dont seem to have that, you should totally fucking go for it xD
